The old model of network infrastructure — centralized corporate data centers secured by an on-premise network perimeter — doesn’t work for today’s modern enterprises. Data that used to live in data centers now lives in the cloud and SaaS applications. With the rise of distributed workforces, users need to be able to connect to resources from anywhere in the world, challenging enterprises to provide network access and a secure, straight-line path to the Internet without adopting complex workarounds or increasing latency. SASE or Secure Access Service Edge is an architecture that combines necessary branch WAN edge functions including SD-WAN, routing, segmentation, zone-based firewall and WAN optimization with comprehensive cloud-delivered security services, delivered and managed in the cloud.

For global organizations, this means security and connectivity need to transform with the cloud to offer consistent protection, exceptional user experience and flexibility. More enterprises are starting to leverage secure access service edge (SASE) solutions to secure uninterrupted access for their branch offices and users. SASE promises to deliver consistent security and connectivity no matter where applications, users or branch offices are located, and ZTNA(Zero Trust Network Access) can augment traditional VPN solutions. There is a need for secure access to all applications, anywhere, from any device with unified security management, starting from transitioning to the cloud to managing an increasingly distributed workforce, it’s more important than ever to secure users, apps and data—without compromising the employee experience.
