The final match on Day 1 of the Hero Hockey World League saw hosts India take on fourth-ranked England in what turned out to be an unhappy encounter for the home team. A brace by Adam Dixon was the difference between the teams as England emerged 2-0 winners in the Pool A match.
The first 15 minutes of the game saw both teams playing some cagey hockey as they sounded each other out, but then the Indian team raised the tempo, urged on by the noisy and enthusiastic crowd.
Two penalty corners awarded to India amounted to nothing and gradually a lack of goals began to frustrate the home side. England began to play higher up the pitch and, in turn, were rewarded with successive penalty corners. These also came to nothing and both teams struggled to maintain composure in the attacking circle as they sought the all important breakthrough.
That breakthrough came in the last 10 minutes of the first half as Adam Dixon (28') converted from a penalty corner. It was 10 minutes into the second half before the next goal came as, to the crowd's consternation, Dixon (45) found the net again. 12 minutes from time India scored but the goal was disallowed following a successful referral by England.

"Day two and Match 6 saw Germany take on Korea at the Hockey Women's World League Final 2013.
The First goal game with Germany taking the lead with Pia-Sophie Olddhafer surging into the oppositions half and tapping the ball across goal for Eileen Hoffmann slot the all into the net. Korea came back strong and levelled the scores when Seung PARK A ran into the box and crossed the ball to Mi Hyun PARK who scored.
However Korea had the chance to put themselves in the lead before the break when Da Rae KIM was 1 on 1 with WIEDERMAN Victoria (GK) but KIM shot was inches wide of the goal.

"Day Three, Match 2 saw Germany take on England, with England gaining all three points.
First Half, saw both team trying to settle in the game but the first goal came half way through when England's Kate Richardson-Walsh mistaken pass lead to a German attack. Franzisca Hauke received the ball in the D and her shot was deflected in by teammate Eileen Hoffmann. However Germnay's lead did not last long when German defender Katharina Otthe pass was intercepted by Hannah MaCleod and the ball went straight to Alex Danson whose ferocious shot went straight pass the keeper and brought her team levelled.
Second half saw England take the lead, from a Penalty corner, Nic White's shot was touched in by Sophie Bray who positioned herself in a great position to see her shot pass the keeper. England were managing to hold onto the lead withstanding a number of German attacks including Jana Teschke shot was sent into the D but England Keeper Maddie Hinch (GK) deflected save met Kate Richardson-Walsh who cleared England's line.
England had the chance to extend when Sam Quek's good run saw Helen Richardson-Walsh cross into D but Ashleigh Ball's diving effort was unable to connect with the ball. "Day 4 of the Men's Hero Hockey World League Final in New Delhi, India, were we see Germany take on Netherlands in the second of the Quarter-Finals of the day.
Both teams have strong rivalry having met each other at the London 2012 Olympic Games. However it was a strong start for the Netherlands when they were awarded a Penalty Corner and Mink van der Weerden dragflick put his team in the lead. The Netherlands, who were dominating the early start of the game, doubled their lead when a deflection by Seve van Ass went passed the keeper, seeing Germany having to comeback from a quick 2 goal lead.
Jeroen Hertzburger was nearly close to added another goal when he made a lovely run into the D but Keeper Nicholas Jacobi mad himself big to stop the oncoming shot but was 0-2 at the break.
The second half saw Germany come out strong and grab an early goal. Marco Miltkau worked the ball into the D and was met by the captain Oliver Korn who slotted the ball into the net bringing them back into the game.
Netherlands were awarded a Penalty Corner and had the chance in extending there lead but van der Weerden shot was saved by Nicolas Jacobi and cleared by Jan Philipp Rabente. Germany were unable to scores level and at the end of the match The Netherlands, along with England, had booked a place in the Semi-Finals while Germany, would feature in a 5th and 8th place playoff.

On day one of the Hero Hockey World League Final, reigning world champions Australia met Belgium in a highly anticipated clash. A close game saw Australia win 3-2 with a late winning goal.
Jacob Whetton secured Australia all three points in the opening match of the Hero Hockey World League Final in Delhi. Despite the tenacity of Belgium who fought back twice, the Kookaburras emerged with a 3-2 win. The winning goal was scored with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.
The first half started with Australia putting early pressure on the Belgian defence. The Kookaburras remained in control of the ball but they failed to create any meaningful opportunities.
Belgium had their chance to take the lead when the Kookaburras were short-handed after Eddie Ockenden (21') was sent off with a yellow card.
It took up to the 32nd minute until the spectators in the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium saw the first penalty corner. Kieran Govers (33') skilfully scored the opening goal of the Hero Hockey World League.
However, it took Belgium less than one minute to equalise through a shot from a wide angle by Tom Boon (34'). "We must keep possession, Australia have such a good counter attack", said Red Lions coach Mark Lammers at halftime.
Despite Lammer's warning to his team, the Red Lions ran into another Aussie counter-attack which led to their third penalty corner.

Netherlands met Argentina on day one of the Hero Hockey World League. A hard-fought game with some excellent hockey saw Argentina win.
The Argentine intent was signalled when they took the lead in just the second minute of the game through a penalty corner, which top scorer Gonzalo Peillat slotted away.
The Netherlands responded immediately with an equally well-taken penalty corner from penalty corner specialist Mink van der Weerden (5'). Three minutes later Argentina reclaimed the lead with a diving conversion by Facundo Callioni (8').
The remainder of the first half was quiet in comparison, with both sides taking a cagey approach. And these defensive tactics continued for the first 15 minutes of the second half. It was the Netherlands who broke the deadlock in the second half when Seve van Ass (50') levelled for the Netherlands. The son of the national coach, Paul van Ass, scored with a reverse stick shot from wide left of the goal.
Six minutes later and Los Leones re-gained their advantage when first Pedro Ibarra (56') shot home from open play and then Guido Barriedes (60') scored a beautifully-taken goal following sustained Argentine pressure.
Argentina further extended their lead when they were awarded and converted a penalty stroke. The scorer on was Juan Ignacio Gilardi (67').

"A bright start by India threatened to provide the shock of the tournament but Australia showed just why they are world champions by turning a 2-0 deficit into a 7-2 victory at the Hero Hockey World League Final in Delhi.
This fourth quarter final started with a big surprise as host nation India went 2-0 ahead in front of a loudly cheering and very enthusiastic crowd in the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Birenda Lakra (6') opened the scoring when his shot on goal was deflected by an Australian defender's stick. Yuvraj (11') doubled the lead a few minutes later much to the delight of the crowd.
India fought hard to keep ahead of the world champions and their resilience paid off up to the 24th minute when Nicholas Budgeon put the Kookaburras on the scoreboard by smashing in a penalty corner.
Before halftime Jason Wilson's (29') equaliser came from open play and the crowd saw the Kookaburras eventually turning the score around when Glenn Turner (35') made it 3-2 finishing a great team move marking his 100th cap with a goal.
The world champions were dominating throughout the second half. First, it was Russell Ford (41') extending the lead to 4-2. The game started with New Zealand on the front foot and took the lead when a Penalty Corner was met by Kane Russell, his 2nd of the tournament, and the 1st for his team in this game. However 7 minutes near the end New Zealand was awarded a Penalty Corner when Pedre Ibarra obstructed Simon Child's shot. It was then up to Dean Couzins to score from the P spot but his shot hit the frame of the goal but it still remained 0-1 to New Zealand at the break.
After the break, the Black Sticks nearly capitalised on a defensive error when Juan Ignacio Gilardi failed to control the ball and Stephen Jenness had a chance to put his team in front but hit the shot wide.
However Argentina finally got there break when Matias Paredes managed to control the ball that was lifted into the circle and with the New Zealand defence unable to clear their lines, and Paredes added a 2nd goal of the tournament levelling the game for his team. However both were unable to take the lead in the end which meant the game would be decided through a Penalty Shoot-out.

"Day 5 of the Men Junior's Hockey World Cup in Delhi where we see Germany take on Egypt.
Germany needed a win to have a chance to advance to the quarter-finals and immediately got on the scoreboard when The Captain Mathias Muller (C) innocent looking cross into the D but deflected off Egyptian defender resulting in an own goal. Germany doubled their tally in the 19th minute by Niklas Bruns when the ball was crossed into the D by Christopher Ruhr, leaving the game at the break 2-0 to Germany, and Egypt failing to show any dominance on the game.
The Second Half started off with Germany controlling again and they managed to grab their 3rd goal when Henning Huttermann was quickly closed down by Wael Noureldin's (GK) but Huttermann managed to pass the ball into the path of Christopher Ruhr, who slotted the ball into the net and saw Germany lead 3-0. Germany carried on pressed and grabbed their 4th goal 18 minutes before full time when they were awarded a Penalty Corner. Taken by Mathias Muller, Christopher Ruhr dragflick was saved by Wael Noureldin's (GK) but his save went back into the path of Muller who touched the ball into the net.

Germany came away with a convincing 6-1 victory over New Zealand in their opening encounter in Pool A.
The match started off at a breakneck pace as Germany's Christopher Wesley scored the opening goal with less than 20 seconds played. However, the Blacksticks were not rocked at all and equalised through a penalty corner goal from Kane Russell (5').
This time Germany provided an immediate answer thanks to Thilo Stralkowski (11') netting from Germany's first penalty corner. Towards the middle of the first half the Olympic champions took control of the match but time and again New Zealand keeper Devon Manchester prevented them from scoring.
However, Manchester was eventually defeated when Florian Fuchs (31'), FIH Young Player of the Year 2012, deflected a penalty corner flick from Martin Häner to extend the German lead to 3-1.
The second half saw Germany becoming the dominant side. In a five-minute spell Germany extended their lead by a further three goals. Stralkowski (44') added another penalty corner goal, one minute later Tobias Hauke (45') scored from open play to make it 5-1, then Jan-Philipp Rabente (48') put his name on the score sheet.

"Day 4 of the Men's Hero Hockey World League Final in New Delhi, India, were we see Germany take on Netherlands in the second of the Quarter-Finals of the day.
Both teams have strong rivalry having met each other at the London 2012 Olympic Games. However it was a strong start for the Netherlands when they were awarded a Penalty Corner and Mink van der Weerden dragflick put his team in the lead. The Netherlands, who were dominating the early start of the game, doubled their lead when a deflection by Seve van Ass went passed the keeper, seeing Germany having to comeback from a quick 2 goal lead.
Jeroen Hertzburger was nearly close to added another goal when he made a lovely run into the D but Keeper Nicholas Jacobi mad himself big to stop the oncoming shot but was 0-2 at the break.
The second half saw Germany come out strong and grab an early goal. Marco Miltkau worked the ball into the D and was met by the captain Oliver Korn who slotted the ball into the net bringing them back into the game.
Netherlands were awarded a Penalty Corner and had the chance in extending there lead but van der Weerden shot was saved by Nicolas Jacobi and cleared by Jan Philipp Rabente. Germany were unable to scores level and at the end of the match The Netherlands, along with England, had booked a place in the Semi-Finals while Germany, would feature in a 5th and 8th place playoff.

On day one of the Hero Hockey World League Final, reigning world champions Australia met Belgium in a highly anticipated clash. A close game saw Australia win 3-2 with a late winning goal.
Jacob Whetton secured Australia all three points in the opening match of the Hero Hockey World League Final in Delhi. Despite the tenacity of Belgium who fought back twice, the Kookaburras emerged with a 3-2 win. The winning goal was scored with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.
The first half started with Australia putting early pressure on the Belgian defence. The Kookaburras remained in control of the ball but they failed to create any meaningful opportunities.
Belgium had their chance to take the lead when the Kookaburras were short-handed after Eddie Ockenden (21') was sent off with a yellow card.
It took up to the 32nd minute until the spectators in the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium saw the first penalty corner. Kieran Govers (33') skilfully scored the opening goal of the Hero Hockey World League.
However, it took Belgium less than one minute to equalise through a shot from a wide angle by Tom Boon (34'). "We must keep possession, Australia have such a good counter attack", said Red Lions coach Mark Lammers at halftime.
Despite Lammer's warning to his team, the Red Lions ran into another Aussie counter-attack which led to their third penalty corner.

Netherlands met Argentina on day one of the Hero Hockey World League. A hard-fought game with some excellent hockey saw Argentina win.
The Argentine intent was signalled when they took the lead in just the second minute of the game through a penalty corner, which top scorer Gonzalo Peillat slotted away.
The Netherlands responded immediately with an equally well-taken penalty corner from penalty corner specialist Mink van der Weerden (5'). Three minutes later Argentina reclaimed the lead with a diving conversion by Facundo Callioni (8').
The remainder of the first half was quiet in comparison, with both sides taking a cagey approach. And these defensive tactics continued for the first 15 minutes of the second half. It was the Netherlands who broke the deadlock in the second half when Seve van Ass (50') levelled for the Netherlands. The son of the national coach, Paul van Ass, scored with a reverse stick shot from wide left of the goal.
Six minutes later and Los Leones re-gained their advantage when first Pedro Ibarra (56') shot home from open play and then Guido Barriedes (60') scored a beautifully-taken goal following sustained Argentine pressure.
Argentina further extended their lead when they were awarded and converted a penalty stroke. The scorer on was Juan Ignacio Gilardi (67').

"A bright start by India threatened to provide the shock of the tournament but Australia showed just why they are world champions by turning a 2-0 deficit into a 7-2 victory at the Hero Hockey World League Final in Delhi.
This fourth quarter final started with a big surprise as host nation India went 2-0 ahead in front of a loudly cheering and very enthusiastic crowd in the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Birenda Lakra (6') opened the scoring when his shot on goal was deflected by an Australian defender's stick. Yuvraj (11') doubled the lead a few minutes later much to the delight of the crowd.
India fought hard to keep ahead of the world champions and their resilience paid off up to the 24th minute when Nicholas Budgeon put the Kookaburras on the scoreboard by smashing in a penalty corner.
Before halftime Jason Wilson's (29') equaliser came from open play and the crowd saw the Kookaburras eventually turning the score around when Glenn Turner (35') made it 3-2 finishing a great team move marking his 100th cap with a goal.
The world champions were dominating throughout the second half. First, it was Russell Ford (41') extending the lead to 4-2. The game started with New Zealand on the front foot and took the lead when a Penalty Corner was met by Kane Russell, his 2nd of the tournament, and the 1st for his team in this game. However 7 minutes near the end New Zealand was awarded a Penalty Corner when Pedre Ibarra obstructed Simon Child's shot. It was then up to Dean Couzins to score from the P spot but his shot hit the frame of the goal but it still remained 0-1 to New Zealand at the break.
After the break, the Black Sticks nearly capitalised on a defensive error when Juan Ignacio Gilardi failed to control the ball and Stephen Jenness had a chance to put his team in front but hit the shot wide.
However Argentina finally got there break when Matias Paredes managed to control the ball that was lifted into the circle and with the New Zealand defence unable to clear their lines, and Paredes added a 2nd goal of the tournament levelling the game for his team. However both were unable to take the lead in the end which meant the game would be decided through a Penalty Shoot-out.

"Day 5 of the Men Junior's Hockey World Cup in Delhi where we see Germany take on Egypt.
Germany needed a win to have a chance to advance to the quarter-finals and immediately got on the scoreboard when The Captain Mathias Muller (C) innocent looking cross into the D but deflected off Egyptian defender resulting in an own goal. Germany doubled their tally in the 19th minute by Niklas Bruns when the ball was crossed into the D by Christopher Ruhr, leaving the game at the break 2-0 to Germany, and Egypt failing to show any dominance on the game.
The Second Half started off with Germany controlling again and they managed to grab their 3rd goal when Henning Huttermann was quickly closed down by Wael Noureldin's (GK) but Huttermann managed to pass the ball into the path of Christopher Ruhr, who slotted the ball into the net and saw Germany lead 3-0. Germany carried on pressed and grabbed their 4th goal 18 minutes before full time when they were awarded a Penalty Corner. Taken by Mathias Muller, Christopher Ruhr dragflick was saved by Wael Noureldin's (GK) but his save went back into the path of Muller who touched the ball into the net.
