Fighting firing over po*n films, Oxnard teacher says, 'I am worth a second chance' Video

On her second day testifying, Oxnard teacher Stacie Halas told an administrative law judge that she never lied about her past in pornography and that she is ready to return to the classroom.

"I am worth a second chance. I can be better," Halas said Friday. "I just lost myself for those nine months. I lost who I was."

Halas, 32, is appealing an Oxnard School District board decision to terminate her position as an eighth-grade science teacher at Haydock Intermediate School. The board believes Halas was involved in immoral activity and lied about her roles in adult films. School leaders also believe the classroom environment was disrupted when students became aware of the pornographic material.

Much of the testimony during the five-day hearing at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center has been centered on whether Halas was dishonest or misleading when school officials first learned of the pornographic films.

For the first three days of the administrative hearing, which started on Monday, witnesses called by the school district claim Halas lied over and over again about her past as a porn star and did not admit to it until she sought legal representation.
