Welcoming the decision of 'Pan Dukan Bebokhai Sanstha' for stopping the sale of Gutkha & Pan Masala in at least 6000 Pan Shops in Guwahati, Arundhati Deka (Director cum State Nodal Officer), Directorate of Health Services appreciated the step and claimed to be a historical step if they can stick into their pronouncement.
She also informed that sale of tobacco products to minors and within the 100-yard radius of any educational institutions which has been mandated by Sections 4 and 6 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act (COTPA), 2003.
Notably, sale of Gutkha & Pan Masala to at least 6000 pan shops in Guwahati has been stopped by 'Pan Dukan Bebokhai Sanstha' from Wednesday onwards.
Meanwhile, the Food Safety Department in a notification on Wednesday has banned manufacture, storage, sale, transportation, display or distribution of items containing tobacco and other nicotine in the state of Assam for a period of one year under Clause (a) of Sub-Section 2 of Section 30 of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

A new ray of hope comes to light in the murder incident of a Minor Girl murder incident in Lumding who was allegedly killed by a family on October 18, 2019 and thereby cremated the body in Howraghat area.
A case was registered in connection to the matter earlier by the family members of the deceased girl.
Notably, the minor girl was working as a maid servant in the resident of one Sadhan Chakraborty.
As per police report, presently, Sadhan Chakraborty and his family members are absconding.
However, police recovered two cars, one scooty and one motorcycle during an investigation at the residence of Sadhan Chakraborty on Tuesday and apprehended one person under suspicion.

In a shocking incident, a half naked body of a minor was recovered under mysterious conditions near Kalapani Bridge at Amratarigaon of Mijikar in Biswanath District.
The identity of the deceased girl has not been ascertained yet, said the police officials.
Local people in the area claimed it to be a case of rape and the body was sent for post mortem by Biswanath police.

Welcoming the decision of 'Pan Dukan Bebokhai Sanstha' for stopping the sale of Gutkha & Pan Masala in at least 6000 Pan Shops in Guwahati, Arundhati Deka (Director cum State Nodal Officer), Directorate of Health Services appreciated the step and claimed to be a historical step if they can stick into their pronouncement.
She also informed that sale of tobacco products to minors and within the 100-yard radius of any educational institutions which has been mandated by Sections 4 and 6 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act (COTPA), 2003.
Notably, sale of Gutkha & Pan Masala to at least 6000 pan shops in Guwahati has been stopped by 'Pan Dukan Bebokhai Sanstha' from Wednesday onwards.
Meanwhile, the Food Safety Department in a notification on Wednesday has banned manufacture, storage, sale, transportation, display or distribution of items containing tobacco and other nicotine in the state of Assam for a period of one year under Clause (a) of Sub-Section 2 of Section 30 of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Based on a specific input at about 9.30 PM on Tuesday, a search operation was carried out by Joint teams of Forest and Police led by Range Officer Pranjal Baruah, Crime Investigation Range, BNC, Range Officer, Nayan Jyoti Gogoi, Gamiri Range and SI Raju Dowarah, Officer-In-Charge Behali PS with the help of 2nd battalion Assam Forest Protection Force apprehended the following 4 rhino poachers from Botiamari-Rangsali Road while they were coming by a Temp Auto bearing Reg No-AS 12AC 5797 to the hunt Rhinoceros in the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.During detection and on further search Ration/Grocery and some other incriminating articles (used in Poaching Rhino) were recovered from their possession. Investigation is on.The arrested accused were identified as Paosanthang Guite alias Thang (Sharp Shooter) 33 years, Babul Das alias Dudu-44 years (veteran and wanted Poacher), Bimal Bania alias Babu-24 years, Sukhdev Mukhiya alias Gulna Bin (veteran and wanted Poacher)-55 years.

A new ray of hope comes to light in the murder incident of a Minor Girl murder incident in Lumding who was allegedly killed by a family on October 18, 2019 and thereby cremated the body in Howraghat area.
A case was registered in connection to the matter earlier by the family members of the deceased girl.
Notably, the minor girl was working as a maid servant in the resident of one Sadhan Chakraborty.
As per police report, presently, Sadhan Chakraborty and his family members are absconding.
However, police recovered two cars, one scooty and one motorcycle during an investigation at the residence of Sadhan Chakraborty on Tuesday and apprehended one person under suspicion.

The Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) expressing their anger today staged a massive protest against the BJP-led Government in various districts of Assam.
As alleged by the members of the CITU today claimed that the Government of India is manipulating the existing labour welfare laws with new laws, thus, pushing them back into darkness.
The union bodies further alleged that the BJP-led Central Government is playing a major conspiracy of handing over oil companies to private players in the nation.
