Bollyoz.com's Editor-in-Chief Kirti Sehrawat recently caught up with Sonam Patel, who was crowned Miss India Global 2016 in a glittering event in Melbourne. Sonam talks about her chance foray into the world of modeling, her vocation, her passion for music, and her future plans.
Sonam is from Perth, Western Australia. She is currently pursuing her career in the accounting field whilst undertaking further studies in chartered accounting. Prior to this she undertook studies in dentistry. Sonam is an avid gym goer and also has a zest for music and in particular, loves to play the piano. In the talent round of the Miss India Global, Sonam mesmerised the jury members with her soulful piano rendition of Bollywood songs.

Jasvinder Singh Sidhu is a University lecturer and social researcher and holds triple masters and submitting his PhD in a few months. He has founded a few social campaigns, for the needy and disadvantaged in Victoria. The Age, SBS News, ABC, State and Federal Parliaments have acknowledged his work on many occasions. Jasvinder has taught in five countries over last one decade and has presented his research in over dozen countries around the world namely in Spain, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Portugal, New Zealand, India and Australia. A regular commentator at SBS, voluntary journalist, runs food programs for homeless people and homeless children, established breakfast clubs in 25 schools in Victoria serving more than 1,000 school children. Over last 7 years Jasvinder has also established programs for isolated migrants and has assisted more than 100 seniors to become self-sufficient through various programs. Jasvinder is the co-founder of Jagriti association which creates programs and strategies to counter family violence in Victoria.

The development of his musical abilities in the forthcoming years resulted in the creation of symphonies that greatly enriched the harmonious heritage of Indian classical music.

Kudrat Gill is an Indian born Australian, a self confessed career-oriented girl who loves food, outdoors, animals, different cultures, travelling and her family and friends.
Kurat states, dance is my 'expression' . Expression is a way of making known one's thoughts or feelings and I turn to dance and music no matter what my thoughts or feelings. I can easily express it through dance. Dancing has been a passion as far back as my memory goes. It has been something that continues to grow with me. I have learnt and performed a variety of genres of dance - Broadway, Salsa, various folk and classical dances of India. In Australia I started with a group of friends with whom I performed various bollywood numbers and mix of other styles. Following my performance with the Shiamak Davar (international) Dance Company at the Commonwealth Games I went on to join their school and undertook technical training with them. After a few years I started Bhangra, originally a males folk dance.

Here is a parody on what happens when Blondie from the film The Good, The Bad and the Ugly decides on going after notorious plagiariser Anu Malik (who still does not accept that he plagiarises) to get Ennio Morricone's royalty for his popular theme music from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly... which Malik blatantly copied and indianised for the song 'Woh Tu Hai' from the film Beqabu (1996) starring Sanjay Kapoor and Mamta Kulkarni.
Though, The first film of Dollar's trilogy - A Fistful of Dollars, had its own share of plagiarism issues, as it copied the plot of Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai'. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly was eventually sued by the Japanese studio Toho that produced 'Seven Samurai', resulting in an out of court settlement.
Indian Cinema often copied Western genre films, thus creating a new term "Curry Western" (western genre made in India, as opposed to Sapghetti Westerns - those were made in Italy).
Popular Indian filmmaker Feroz Khan loved the Western genre... and most of these Curry Westerns starred Feroz Khan in the 1970s and 80s such as - Khhotte Sikkay (1974), Kaala Sona (1975), Chunaoti (1980) and Kachche Heere (1982). Even Mithun Chakravorty starred in Curry Westerns such as - Wanted: Dead or Alive (1984), Hum Se Hai Zamana (1983) and few others.

Â In addition, Molina has also won two awards at the Indian Executive Club Awards 2013, the Young Executive of the Year Award Female. She also received the prestigious Person of the Year Award, which was given by Hon. John Howard, ex-Prime Minister of Australia.

Debashish Bhattacharya, an inspiration to the global contemporary musical scenario, is an Indian Classical Musician who has mastered the chords of the Slide Guitar. Born into a musical family from Kolkata in 1963, Debashish fell in love with guitar at the age of 3 years itself. The development of his musical abilities in the forthcoming years resulted in the creation of symphonies that greatly enriched the harmonious heritage of Indian classical music.

Kudrat Gill is an Indian born Australian, a self confessed career-oriented girl who loves food, outdoors, animals, different cultures, travelling and her family and friends.
Kurat states, dance is my 'expression' . Expression is a way of making known one's thoughts or feelings and I turn to dance and music no matter what my thoughts or feelings. I can easily express it through dance. Dancing has been a passion as far back as my memory goes. It has been something that continues to grow with me. I have learnt and performed a variety of genres of dance - Broadway, Salsa, various folk and classical dances of India. In Australia I started with a group of friends with whom I performed various bollywood numbers and mix of other styles. Following my performance with the Shiamak Davar (international) Dance Company at the Commonwealth Games I went on to join their school and undertook technical training with them. After a few years I started Bhangra, originally a males folk dance.
