After a successful outing in the series opener at Kensington Oval in Barbados, West Indies will take on visitors New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series on August 19, Friday. It was a much-needed victory for the Caribbean side as they have not had ideal outings in the recent past. They lost against Ireland in January, then lost against India in February away from home, before winning against the Netherlands in June. They then lost the ODI series against Pakistan and Bangladesh before losing another series to India at home.
The last three series losses were all a clean sweep as the Windies lost nine ODI games in a row and thus the recent win, that too against a strong Kiwi side, will boost their confidence. The bowlers played a crucial role in the first game as they dismissed the Blackcaps for just 190.
The Men in Maroon then completed a successful chase, thanks to a brilliant half-century by Shamarh Brooks. New Zealand would be disappointed by their effort and would look to bounce back in the second ODI to level the series, whereas the hosts would look to extend their winning momentum and clinch the series.

Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has a good track record in the ODI format.
