However, the Inflection AI funding round shows that major corporations are now investing in AI companies. This is a sign that AI is becoming a mainstream technology and that it is being seen as a strategic investment by major corporations.

India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) aims to bring a sustainable approach for the sale and purchase of goods and services online and the Rules apply to e-commerce entities including Amazon, Flipkart and Reliance Retail. Major e-commerce players in the Indian market are likely to join the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), an open e-commerce network, is an initiative of the government to promote an open platform for all aspects of the exchange of goods and services through electronic networks. The ONDC has been initially launched in five cities in India- Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Shillong and Coimbatore - on 29 April on a pilot basis to on-board Kirana stores and small and medium businesses. According to the report, ONDC, which still is at a nascent stage, is being pitched as a solution to break the dominance of large e-commerce firms like Walmart-owned Flipkart, Amazon and others in India. In this backdrop, any move by these major e-commerce players to join the network will assume huge significance. E-kart, the logistics arm of Flipkart, has already integrated with ONDC for logistics services while the Flipkart-owned PhonePe is reportedly in the process of joining the network. A report says, Paytm has already joined the network.
ONDC is a decentralised platform that will allow buyers and sellers to connect and transact with each other online irrespective of which ecommerce portal(s) they are listed on. “The bigger ecommerce players have indicated to ONDC that they will support it. Besides tapping into new users, this will also enable platforms with sizable business-to-business verticals to tap into the seller side of ONDC network to supply goods. While the category has recently been led by Xiaomi's low-cost bands, the company was dethroned by Apple and Huawei in 3Q21 as they tied for first place in the wrist-worn segment. The Indian tech industry always comes with resilience, agility and innovation – and a latest survey from KPMG says, around twice as many global technology company leaders believe that hubs are still important in driving technology innovation as opposed to those who believe they are not and ranking the country third among jurisdictions that show the most promise for developing disruptive global technologies. KPMG ranked Bengaluru at eighth position among the top 10 cities. More than 800 industry leaders were surveyed for the report which said 39 per cent believe global 'hub' cities such as London, Singapore, and Tel Aviv will continue to play a vital role, enabling talent to coalesce and collaborate in communities with a solid digital infrastructure.
The report found that while Covid-19 has rapidly accelerated new ways of working, most of the employers know this and are striving towards flexible work arrangements including permanent hybrid workforce models. As the workforce disperses geographically, new hotbeds of technically skilled workers will emerge. The world's 'technology hubs' are here to stay although they may not be in Silicon Valley. It presents a great opportunity for India – bolstered further by the urbanisation and younger demographic trends of the country as well as the massive jump in venture capital that India has seen in the last three years. The internet and digital technology are the new superhighways of trade. Tech leaders believe the industry's future success will rely on a balance between physical workspace and greater flexibility. At the same time, engineering talent and intellectual property are the lifeblood of the tech industry and retaining top talent is a strategic imperative.

Remote working varies considerably around the world depending on IT adoption, culture and mix of industries. In 2022, 31% of all workers worldwide will be remote (a mix of hybrid and fully remote). By the end of 2021, 51% of all knowledge workers worldwide are expected to be working remotely, up from 27% of knowledge workers in 2019, according to Gartner. The research firm also estimates that remote workers will represent 32% of all employees worldwide by the end of 2021. This is up from 17% of employees in 2019. A hybrid workforce is the future of the work, with both remote and on-site part of the same solution to optimize employers' workforce needs.
India and China will produce some of the largest numbers of remote workers, but their overall penetration rates will remain relatively low with 30% of workers in India being remote and 28% of workers in China working remote, according to Gartner. Digital products and services will play a big role in these digital transformation efforts. This longer strategic plan requires continued investment in strategic remote-first technology continuity implementations along with new technologies such as hyper automation, AI and collaboration technologies to open up more flexibility of location choice in job roles, Gartner said. A hybrid workforce will continue to increase the demand for PCs and tablets. In 2021, PC and tablet shipments will exceed 500 million units for the first time in history, highlighting the demand across both business and consumer markets.
