The report predicts that this growth of 100% over the next four years will be driven by the migration of mobile subscriptions to 5G networks, and the increasing inclusion of eSIMs in devices such as laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots.
The research forecasts that 80 per cent of global operator-billed service revenue will be attributable to 5G by 2027; allowing operators to secure a return on investment into their 5G networks. Artificial Intelligence (AI), a field of data science that educates computers to learn from experience, has been evolving for more than 60 years. In the past few years, both Indian private and public sector companies and the central and state governments have invested in multiple AI use cases across diverse application areas. Nearly half of the respondents to a survey view AI as critically essential for their businesses. Start-ups and established players alike are using AI and ML to tap into new opportunities. In terms of achieving these outcomes, 37 percent reported success in discovering new business insights and 41 percent are able to enhance their existing products and services. According to a NASSCOM report, data and AI could add US$ 450 – 500 billion to India's GDP by 2025, representing 10 percent of India’s US$ 5 trillion economy aspiration.
The fact is, there is a significant impact of AI investment on both the demand and supply sides. With an aim to develop infrastructure in the country, #PrimeMinisterNarendraModi launched a Rs.100 trillion Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity which will reduce the logistic costs and boost the economy. As per DIPA, the National Master Plan is significant for the telecom sector on various fronts such as a unified portal for approvals of infrastructure projects, cross-sector collaboration with utilities (water, gas, electricity, etc.) for sharing infrastructure, including common ducts, uniform policy in all states/UTs and central ministries/departments for Right of Way (RoW) permissions, availability of land/properties for deploying infrastructure, and sharing of infrastructure with other utilities by enhancing the scope of telecom infrastructure providers.
The project is expected to connect economic zones such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fishing clusters, and agri zones will be improved to make Indian businesses more competitive. It will also leverage technology, including spatial planning tools with satellite imagery.
