मकर संक्रांति पर्व के मौके पर केजीएमयू पल्मोनरी एंड क्रिटिकल केयर मेडिसीन के एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर डॉ. वेद प्रकाश ने एक प्रेस वार्ता करते हुए 25 दिसम्बर को लखनऊ में चाइनीज़ मांझे से बुरी तरह घायल हुई सुरभि वर्मा नाम की युवती के बारे में जानकारी दी। डॉ. वेद प्रकाश ने बताया कि मकरसंक्रांति के मौके पर लोग पतंगबाजी करते हैं जोकि किसी की जान पर बन पड़ती है इसलिए इसमे सावधानी बरतना बेहद ज़रूरी है। डॉ. प्रकाश ने बताया कि बर्लिंगटन चौराहे पर सुरभि नाम की युवती किसी काम से अपनी सहेली के साथ स्कूटी से जा रही थी तभी चाइनीज़ मांझे से युवती का गला कट गया जिसको इलाज के लिए सिविल अस्पताल एडमिट कराया जहां उनको ट्रामा सेंटर रेफर कर दिया गया था। डॉ. वेद प्रकाश की अगुवाई में डॉक्टरो की टीम ने लगभग 20 दिनों तक युवती का किया इलाज किया। डॉ. प्रकाश ने बताया कि गला कटने से युवती की सांस और खाने की नली भी कट गई थी जिसकी वजह से खून का बहाव नही रुक रहा था। वही डॉ. वेद प्रकाश के मुताबिक ज़रा सी लापरवाही और इलाज में देरी से युवती की जान भी जा सकती थी लेकिन डॉक्टरो की टीम की मेहनत रंग लायी और आज सुरभि को डिस्चार्ज किया जा रहा है। साथ ही एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर ने मकर संक्रांति के मौके पर इस हादसे के बाद सावधानी से पतंगबाजी करने की भी हिदायत दी।
