Manchester United, earlier Newton Heath LYR Football Club, is a professional football club located in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. It was designed by architect Archibald Leitch with a budget of £30,000 for construction while the original plans called for a seating capacity of 100,000. The building was constructed by Messrs Brameld and Smith of Manchester. The stadium encountered the highest number of attendance on 25 March 1939 during the FA Cup semi-final between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Grimsby Town drawing 76,962 spectators.

The commencement of the global powerhouse brand, Manchester United, dates back to 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878 by the Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (LYR) depot at Newton Heath. During the initial years, the team was seen playing against other departments and rail companies and went through a set of challenges. On 20 November 1880, they competed in their first recorded match wearing the railway company colours - green and gold which they unfortunately lost.
