Rahul Gandhi Addressing a Public Rally at Latur, Maharashtra on April 14, 2014
Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Latur, Maharashtra on April 14, 2014.
Demolishing the myth of prosperity and job creation in Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi dubbed the state's growth model as a 'toffee model' where only a few big industrialists exponentially increase their wealth at the expense of the common man and weaker sections of the society, who continue to languish behind.
"In Gujarat, a piece of land as big as the urban area of Aurangabad was given to an industrialist by the Gujarat government for one rupee per square meter. In one rupee, you get toffee, not land. This is not Gujarat model, this is a toffee model," he said at a massive public rally in Latur adding that only a few industrialists have prospered under the Narendra Modi led Gujarat government.
Rahul Gandhi also dismissed claims of job creation and poverty reduction in the state and highlighted that a model which favours only the rich cannot work for India. "The BJP says that the Gujarat model has created jobs for the youth. Recently, Gujarat government opened up 1,500 jobs at a salary of merely Rs. 5,000 per month. 8.5 lakh youth lined up for those jobs. If they gave employment, why are 560 people turning up for one job." he said adding that under this model neither farmers and the poor benefit, nor the small and medium enterprises.By Indian National Congress| 189 views

Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Hingoli, Maharashtra on April 15, 2014.
Confident of victory in the ongoing elections, Rahul Gandhi assured the people of Maharashtra that the Congress Party will form a government of the poor, weaker and backward sections of the society, and that every poor person will have a pucca roof over their head.
"We worked on our manifesto for six months because we wanted to know what you want. When we form the government, we will give you the right to health, shelter and pension," he said at a massive rally in Hingoli, adding that the Congress Party believes in partnership of the poor and business.By Indian National Congress| 231 views
Rahul Gandhi Addressing a Public Rally at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh on April 17, 2014
Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh on April 17, 2014.
Exposing the hypocrisy of the BJP, Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition party had no right to talk about corruption as it had failed to take action in the recruitment scam, popularly known as the Vyapam Scandal, in Madhya Pradesh. This, he said, was one among the series of corruption scandals and crony capitalism that has flourished under the BJP regime. "Let me ask you one thing, has the BJP government taken any action in the Vyapam scandal? When will they do it? Their leaders talk about corruption everywhere they go, but under the BJP government, corruption thrives and grows... They did the same in Karnataka," he said at a massive rally at the Khandwa stadium where tens of thousands of people had gathered to listen to their leader. Rahul Gandhi also criticised the so called Gujarat model of development and said that it did not matter whether it was called a 'toffee model or the tea model' because the fact was it benefitted only a select few industrialist friends of the Gujarat government. "Their ideology is that of 'India Shining'. They want to take the money and resources of the people and give it to 2-3 industrialists. They want the poor to remain poor. Their politics is of anger, hatred and making people fight...We say India should be one and that everyone, including the poor and the backward are included in its progress.By Indian National Congress| 242 views

Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Maldaha Uttar, West Bengal on April 19, 2014.
Accusing the West Bengal government of failing to implement schemes and programmes meant for the poor and weaker sections of the society, Rahul Gandhi assured the people of state that the Congress Party will accomplish what the state government has failed to do. He stated that the party will help realize the dreams of millions of young men and women of the state when it forms the government this year.
"It is indeed disappointing to see MNERGA not being implemented properly in the state. The Congress led UPA government sent money to the West Bengal government, but the funds lie unutilized. The money does not reach the poor and weaker sections...We gave the whole country, right to food. Rahul Gandhi Addressing a Public Rally at Hargaon, Uttar Pradesh on 24th April 2014
Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Surajkund Mela Ground, Hargaon, Uttar Pradesh on April 24, 2014.
Accusing the opposition of playing divisive politics and keeping the state under-developed, Congress Vice President Mr. Rahul Gandhi asked the people of Uttar Pradesh to unite and vote for the Congress Party to take the state forward.
"The BSP, SP and the BJP have small dreams. They can't take the state forward... Within UP, the youth has been neglected and they have gone astray. They are looking for jobs. They go to Maharashtra, a Congress governed state, for better opportunities. In UP, they have made Hindus and Muslims fight six months before the elections, so that there are no real questions on progress and development...the Congress Party takes everybody along. No matter what your religion is, we will take the state forward," he said at a massive rally in Hargaon.
Mr. Gandhi also cautioned the people against the BJP, which not only plays in the hands of a few industrialists, but is also making fake promises to the people of Uttar Pradesh. "Who beats you up in Maharashtra? BJP and its ally, Shiv Sena. And then they say that they want to help you...The ideology of the BJP is to make people fight among each other, and ensure that only a few industrialists get the benefits of progress. They have nothing to offer to the poor, the farmers, the backward castes and the weaker sections of the society," he said.By Indian National Congress| 180 views
Rahul Gandhi Addressing a Public Rally at Godda, Jharkhand, April 01, 2014
Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Godda, Jharkhand, April 01, 2014.
Rahul Gandhi said that like 2004 and 2009, the NDA's "gas balloon" would burst again while informing that the UPA government did remarkably well, as the BJP talked divisive politics.
Like in the past, the NDA is playing colourful music and distributing sweets in anticipation of winning the polls, but it will meet the same fate as in 2004 and 2009, he said.
Ridiculing BJP's Gujarat model of development, he said, "Jharkhand needs its own model of development and not any other model from outside."
The Congress leader accused the BJP of joining hands with a party like MNS of Raj Thackeray which had targeted people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh in Mumbai and Maharashtra.
"Similarly, many Sikhs told me that their land was taken away at a lower rate in Gujarat in the name of development and even then Akali Dal which claims to be their champion chose to remain silent," he alleged.By Indian National Congress| 198 views
Rahul Gandhi Addressing a Public Rally at Aurangabad, Bihar on April 01, 2014
Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Aurangabad 1 April, 2014.
Rahul Gandhi said that like 2004 and 2009, the NDA's "gas balloon" would burst again while informing that the UPA government did remarkably well, as the BJP talked divisive politics. Ahead of every general election, the NDA and BJP come out with a new campaign balloon. They had prepared an 'India Shining' balloon in 2004. But when the ballot boxes were opened, BJP came to know that the poor in our country burst that balloon.
Normally filmmakers produce series of a successful movie like 'Dhoom'. Similarly BJP made yet another series of India Shining in 2009. But they did not understand that that was already a failed one; but they went ahead with it. Again when the election was over that balloon also was burst. Now, in 2014 also, BJP and NDA are ready with another new big balloon, called Gujarat Model." said Rahul Gandhi
Ridiculing BJP's Gujarat model of development, he said, "Bihar needs its own model of development and not any other model from outside."There is no problem with this state. What we have to is just to empower its people. I know there are some issues with irrigation here and I assure you that we will definitely find a solution to it when we come back to power." Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Balod, Chhattisgarh on April 09, 2014.
Addressing the rally Rahul Gandhi said, "Chhattisgarh is not a poor state. It has all resources. It is a rich state but the people are poor. The benefit of your resources does not reach the people. It goes to the pockets of a selected few. It goes to the people who propagate 'India Shining'."
In 2004 and 2009 BJP had come out with a slogan India Shining during parliament elections. They did good marketing but the people of our country gave them a befitting reply by routing them.
Talking about the work done by Congress led UPA government, Rahul Gandhi said, "In the past ten years the Congress-led UPA government took various steps to help our farmers, the poor and downtrodden. We waived off loans worth Rs 70000 crore of the poor farmers; opened the doors of the banks for them. When we were initiating these, the BJP tried to block it by asking from where we will have money for it. When we arranged financial resources for it they again opposed it by saying that we were wasting money. But we were determined and went on to implement these schemes.
