    Srinagar (J&K): The trade bodies of Kashmir have called for a complete shutdown to protest against the ban on the Islamic political group Jamaat-e-Islami by the government at the Centre and the recent amendments in Article 35A. All shops, business establishments remained closed and public transport was off the streets in the city. The ban is also being supported by the All J&K Transport Welfare Association.

LS Polls: Shutdown in Kashmir

The Kashmir Valley witnessed a complete shutdown amid Lok Sabha elections in state’s Jammu and Baramulla constituencies that recorded 24. 66 per cent votes till 11: 00 am.
All the shops, educational institutes and other business establishments remained closed in the valley and traffic is off the roads. However, a thin movement of traffic is seen on the city roads.
The shutdown was observed in response to the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) to boycott the upcoming elections in the state.
