Eddie Van Halen Resting After Emergency Surgery

Guitar god Eddie Van Halen is currently recovering in hospital after recently being admitted for a round of emergency surgery. The Val Halen co-founder was suffering from a heavy bout of diverticulitis.

Diverticulitis is a condition that causes pouches to form in the wall of the colon and get inflamed or infected. There are many symptoms from this, which include fever and chills, bloating, gas, nausea, and loss of appetite, as well as extreme stomach pain.

The situation has resulted in many of the band’s upcoming tour dates being rescheduled. Van Halen posted a comment on the group’s Facebook addressing concerned fans:

“Eddie Van Halen underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of Diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within 4 – 6 months. Van Halen’s scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013.”

The band has had a tough run of it with this recent tour. A few months back, shows were initially postponed, then totally scrapped after what some sources described as infighting amongst the band members. However, frontman David Lee Roth pinned the issues down to the band being overbooked and needing to take a breather. Amongst those dates was the highly anticipated Australian Tour.
