    संस्कृति मंत्रालय भारत सरकार की स्वायत संस्थान राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालय द्वारा बनारस सेन्टर पर आजादी के अमृत महोत्सव के तहत आयोजित किये जा रहे 22वे भारत रंग महोत्सव के तीसरे दिन एनएसडी सिक्किम रेपेट्री द्वारा बिपिन कुमार द्वारा निर्देशित नाटक कालो भारी का मंचन किया गया. इस नाटक की मंच सज्जा आकर्षित कर देने वाली थी. सिक्किम से आये कलाकारों ने मंच पर सिक्किम के परिवेश को सेट डिजाइन के माध्यम से जीवंत कर दिया.नाटक, कालो भारी प्रणाली पर आधारित है. आजादी से पूर्व यह प्रणाली सिक्किम में प्रचलित थी. इस प्रणाली के माध्यम से ब्रिटिश सरकार ने सिक्किम के लोगो पर अत्यचार किये. जिसके तहत सिक्किम के हर परिवार से कम से कम एक सदस्य को बिना किसी महनत भुगतान के रेशम मार्ग से तिब्बत तक ब्रिटिश व्यापार एजेंसी का भारी भरकम सामान उठा कर पहुचना पड़ता था.इस कहानी के केंद्र में सेला और सैली का परिवार एक ऐसा ही शोषित परिवार है. इनके पूर्वजो की आत्मा इस उमीद में भटकती रहती है कि एक दिन उनके परिवार के बच्चे इस प्रणाली से मुक्त हो स्वतंत्र जीवन जी सकेंगे. इस नाटक के पात्र भरत को अध्य्यन हेतु एवं इस प्रणाली से बचाव हेतु दार्जीलिंग भेज दिया जाता है. जो समय के साथ गांधी,खुदीराम बोस, भगत सिंह के आदर्शों से प्रभावित हो आगे की पढ़ाई हेतु बनारस आता है और स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में सम्मिलित हो जाता है जब उसे सिक्किम में बढ़ते अत्याचारों की खबर मिलती है तब वह सिक्किम पहुच कर कालो भारी प्रणाली के विरुद्ध खिलाफ आन्दोल प्रारम्भ करता है इस तरह नाटक की कहानी आगे बढ़ती है. सिक्किम से आये विदग्ध कलाकारों ने अपने किरदारों में अभिनय से जान फूक दी जिसे दर्शको ने जबरदस्त सराहा. इस नाटक का लेखन आसिफ खान ने किया जिसके मंचन की भाषा नेपाली रही.नाटक के अंत मे एनएसडी वाराणसी सेन्टर डायरेक्टर रामजी बाली ने इस नाटक के निदेशक एवं एनएसडी सिक्किम सेंटर निदेशक बिपिन कुमार को उत्तरीय ओढा एवं प्रतीक चिन्ह दे सम्मान प्रदान किया.
