Saul Bass Doodle by Google - Video doodle for SB 93rd birthday

Watch Here: Google posts a video doodle for Saul Bass' 93rd birthday!

Saul Bass (May 8, 1920 -- April 25, 1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters, and corporate logos.

During his 40-year career Bass worked for some of Hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Among his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of a skyscraper in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.

Bass designed some of the most iconic corporate logos in North America, including the AT&T "bell" logo in 1969, as well as AT&T's "globe" logo in 1983 after the breakup of the Bell System. He also designed Continental Airlines' 1968 "jetstream" logo and United Airlines' 1974 "tulip" logo which became some of the most recognized airline industry logos of the era. Google honored Saul Bass by featuring him in a Google Doodle on May 8, 2013.

Winsor McCay Google Doodle: Little Nemo in Google-land

Maybe you remember that Google earlier this year made a special doodle to honour Gideon Sundback, who invented the zipper. The doodle (video here) used the complete homepage of the search engine something Google doesn’t do very often, before that the last time Google did this was Christmas last year and another great doodle from last year taking over the complete homepage was to honour the first publication of Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem.

Winsor McCay – Little Nemo in Google-land
Now Google does it again and how. On Monday Google will place an interactive comic strip on all homepages of the search engine because of the 107th anniversary of Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland. Winsor McCay was an American cartoonist and animator best known for this comic strip starring Little Nemo. The doodle is based on Little Nemo in Slumberland but in this case the story is called Little Nemo in Google-land.

Like you can see in the video below you can click-through the story. The logo only works in modern browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 9 and 10 but not in Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8.

  • Google celebrates Labour Day with Google doodle

Google celebrates Labour Day with Google doodle

To celebrate International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, Google has honoured workers across the world with a doodle in its homepage.

May 1 is a national holiday in more than 80 countries and celebrated unofficially in many other countries.

First May Day celebration in India was organised in Madras by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan on 1 May 1923. This was also the first time the red flag was used in India.

May Day is a nationwide bank and public holiday in India. The holiday is tied to labour movements for communist and socialist political parties. In Maharashtra and Gujarat, it is officially called Maharashtra Day (Maharashtra Din) and Gujarat Day respectively, since on this day in 1960 each attained statehood, after the old Bombay State became divided on linguistic lines.

In many countries, the working classes sought to make May Day an official holiday, and their efforts largely succeeded. The day has long been a focal point for demonstrations by various socialist, communist and anarchist groups.

Happy Holidays! Google, on Tuesday, wishes 'happy holidays' to its users with a doodle on its home page.

The search engine giant has been wishing its users consistently with attractive Christmas eve doodles.

This year's doodle showcases two children riding on a sleigh in the snow run by a horse. Trees without leaves are also seen in the doodle.

If you move the crusor on the doodle then a message 'Happy holidays from Google!' will appear.

Last year, Google featured a colourful neon design doodle with images of a snowflake, Santa Claus, bell, snowman, candle and a gift box on a black background thus wishing its users "happy holidays".

Google's first holiday doodle, dating back to year 1999, featured a snowman. The snowman made up for the first "O" of the Google logo, and as users scrolled over the Doodle it displayed the message, "Seasons' greetings with a Google Doodle."

Google doodles are the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate festive season, holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous individuals.

The first Google doodle was created by Larry Page and Sergy Brin Google in the year 1998 to mark the celebrations of the Burning Man Festival. Google currently has over 1000 Doodles.
