    Apple announces plan to pay investors billions of dollars in dividends.


    Apple is finally acknowledging that it has more money than it needs. But don't expect it to cut prices on iPhones and iPads. Instead, the company said on Monday that it will reward its shareholders with a dividend and a stock buyback program.

    Apple, the world's most valuable publicly traded company, sits on $97.6 billion in cash and securities.

    The company has stockpiled the cash through a combination of great ideas and prudence. Apple spends money, to be sure, building data centers, buying parts for its products and pursuing ambitious projects such as a new 2.8-million-square-foot headquarters that has been likened to a spaceship. It also invests in the research and development of new technology and negotiates an occasional acquisition.

    But Apple simply hasn't managed to spend its earnings faster than people are lining up to buy its iPads, iPhones and other gadgets.

    The decision to return some of that money to investors is a clear signal that Apple is taking a different approach in the post-Jobs era.

    Former CEO Steve Jobs resisted calls to issue dividends for years. He argued that the money was better used to give Apple maneuvering room to acquire other companies, for instance. Apple did pay a

Apple Announces Stock Dividend and Buyback Program (AAPL)
Investors and analysts finally do not have to speculate about Apple's surplus of nearly $100 billion in cash. According to the New York Times, the tech giant announced Monday it would pay a stock dividend of $2.65 a share in the fourth quarter. The company board also authorized a $10 billion share buyback program to reward investors.

Apple issued a media alert on Sunday evening saying it planned to announce the long-awaited decision by its board about what to do with the large amount of cash. This allowed everyone from analysts to bloggers to speculate about what they would do with the money. Many on Wall Street called for the company to give some money back it its shareholders. Luckily, the company appeased the masses.

In a statement, Apple CEO, Tim Cook said, "We have used some of our cash to make great investments in our business through increased research and development, acquisitions, new retail store openings, strategic prepayments and capital expenditures in our supply chain, and building out our infrastructure. You'll see more of all of these in the future."

Apple halted trading on its stock on Monday. This is the first time the company has paid out a dividend to its shareholders since 1995.

    सोमवार को वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण के अध्यक्षता में GST काउंसिल की अहम बैठक का आयोजन किया गया.. इस बैठक में मुख्य रूप से दो मुद्दों पर चर्चा होनी थीं…. हेल्थ इंश्योरेंस पर जीएसटी की दरें कम करने, और 2000 रुपये से कम के ऑनलाइन (डेबिट और क्रेडिट कार्ड से) ट्रांजेक्शन पर 18% जीएसटी लगाने का मामला था…. फिलहाल इंश्योरेंस प्रीमियम सस्ता होने नहीं जा रहा है, क्योंकि इस मसले पर अंतिम फैसला अगली बैठक तक के लिए टाल दिया गया है…
