The India tour of England is set to get underway, and the proceedings will start with the rescheduled fifth and the final Test match, which was suppose to take place last year. The all-important clash will kick off on July 1, Friday, at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. India put up a strong performance in the inconclusive series and took a 2-1 lead before the series came to a halt. Hence, the visitors just need to avoid a defeat to clinch the trophy while the Three Lions need a win to level the series 2-2 and share the title.
Both the camps come into the final Test with some major changes in the squad and coaching team. Last time out, the Indian team was led by captain Virat Kohli with Ravi Shastri as the head coach, and this time, Rohit Sharma is the designated captain of the team while Rahul Dravid is the head coach. Rohit’s availability for the game, however, is subject to his Covid-19 test results.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) continued their merry run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Tuesday against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They defended 144 runs pretty comfortably at the MCA Stadium in Pune to win the encounter by 29 runs. Riyan Parag and the Royals bowlers were the chief architects of the victory as they climbed to the top of the points table with their sixth victory of the season in eight outings.
Apart from RR’s stunning victory, another incident that remained the talking point of the match was the tempers flaring between Harshal Patel and Riyan Parag. The two players exchanged some serious words at the end of RR’s innings when Parag finished off with a six off the former’s bowling. The two were seen having a go at each other before the members from both sides separated them. Many felt it happened in the heat of the moment and even Riyan Parag seemed to have forgotten the incident.
Irrespective of what happens during the match, the players of the two teams tend to shake hands at the end of the match. However, the scenes after the game between RCB and RR were not great as Harshal Patel didn’t shake hands with Riyan Parag. The latter was delighted after playing a crucial role in the team’s win and came forward to shake hands with his counterpart. But Harshal refused to do so and just walked past him. Even Parag was shocked to see him walk past like that and social media was quick to spot Harshal’s actions.
Meanwhile, it was a memorable game for Riyan Parag as he finally responded to all the criticism by scoring his second IPL fifty. He came out to bat with his side in all sorts of trouble but stayed unbeaten till the end to propel the Royals to 144 runs in their 20 overs. He was a star on the field as well taking some good catches at long on. He took catches of Virat Kohli, Shahbaz Ahmed, Suyash Prabhudessai and Harshal Patel to deservedly win the Player of the Match award.

The T20 World Cup 2022 has turned out to be very unpredictable, and even the tournament favorites have struggled to make a mark. The tournament, so far, has witnessed some close games, some hard-fought games, some upsets, and many more things. And, the Super 12 contest between South Africa and Bangladesh saw a rare incident taking place.
In the first innings, where the Proteas were batting, a mistake by the Bangladesh wicketkeeper led to the opposition getting five penalty runs. In the last delivery of the 11th over, when Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was about to deliver the ball, keeper Nurul Hasan moved to his left before the ball was bowled, which as per the rules of the game, is not permitted.
When Shakib was coming to bowl, Nurul was spotted moving behind the stumps. The on-field umpires Rod Tucker and Langton Rusere had a lengthy discussion about the same and arrived at the decision to offer five additional runs to South Africa as a result of Nurul Hasan’s mistake. Proteas, who already had been notching up the big runs, got five more bonus runs.
Speaking of South Africa’s innings, the Proteas did not have the desired start as their skipper Temba Bavuma, yet again, was dismissed cheaply in the game. His wicket brought Rilee Rossouw into the game as he joined wicketkeeper-batter, Quinton de Kock. The duo shared a brilliant 163-run stand for the second wicket before De Kock found his way back to the pavilion.
Wickets kept falling thereon, but amid all that, Rossouw brought up a fine century off just 52 deliveries, which was also his second consecutive century in T20Is. Thanks to his knock, South Africa continued to be in a very dominating position in the innings. Bangladesh bowlers picked up wickets thereon, as Tristan Stubbs, Rossouw, and Aiden Markram walked back in the death overs, but nevertheless, South Africa ended the innings with a big total of 205/5.
