Singer Sona Mohapatra who has been one of the popular Odia singers of the present generation in the country, of late, has been in news, albeit for wrong reasons. This time the singer has drawn criticism for pronouncing a couple of words wrong from the epical Odia bhajan ‘Ahe Nila Saila’ by renowned Odia poet Salabega.
After a tweeple pointed to the pronunciation errors in the song the singer had posted, there was a long thread of conversations on the social media platform. However, the singer rubbished it to be any kind of controversy.
After facing flak for her rendition of popular Odia bhajan “Ahe Nila Saila”, Odisha-born Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra has been booked for “hurting sentiments of Odia people and disrespecting Lord Jagannath”.
A complaint was filed against the Mumbai-based singer at Singhadwara police station in Puri by Sachetana Nagarika Mancha, a city-based socio-cultural outfit.
