Article 370 abrogation: SC refers to 5-judge Constitution Bench to hear all pleas in October
Hearing a batch of petitions on Jammu and Kashmir, the Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Central government and sought its response on the matter by the first week of October. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said all 14 petitions will now be heard by a five-judge Constitution Bench in the first week of October. The petitions had challenged, among other things, the abrogation of Article 370 by the Central government and also its move to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.
