BCCI Awaits Cricket Australia’s Confirmation Regarding Players Availability For UAE leg

The Indian Premier League since its inception has had several Australian players come and play important roles for the franchises. And even in 2021, there are a few teams that depend on Australian players’ presence. However, for the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021, there is still uncertainty if we will see the Aussies at play.

Ever since the IPL 2021 was abruptly called off, there have been some reservations shown by many players and their respective boards for the second leg. However, when the tournament was strategically scheduled just right before the T20 World Cup, with both the tournament being hosted by the United Arab Emirates, the BCCI expected the players to come in.

The idea was that the boards won’t be reluctant to send their players for the high-profile tournament as it would act as a practice for the players. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) who had previously shown reluctance in allowing their players to go for the second leg have now agreed. In fact, their tour to Bangladesh, which was scheduled at the same time as the IPL, has now been postponed.

The BCCI has informed all the franchises that they will be in a place to inform them about the participation of the Aussie players only after August 10. The same report has also suggested that Cricket Australia (CA) has been in talks with Afghanistan and the West Indies in hope of having a T20I tri-series ahead of the World Cup, Cricbuzz reported.

The series was originally to be hosted by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in India. The series was supposed to be played in October. However, the ACB and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have not yet confirmed that they will be taking part in a series if it is organized by Cricket Australia. CWI has also confirmed its players will be available for the second leg of the IPL 2021.

The news of Australian players’ uncertainty in the IPL 2021 comes on the same day as New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed that they

  • BCCI In Talks With ECB, CA To Ensure Foreign Player Participation In The Second Leg Of IPL 2021

BCCI In Talks With ECB, CA To Ensure Foreign Player Participation In The Second Leg Of IPL 2021

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) got a confirmation from the Cricket West Indies (CWI) regarding on advancement of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), by four days to accommodate the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is set to begin from September 19. After successfully finalizing the deal with the CWI, the BCCI are now set to talk with Cricket Australia (CA) and England Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the availability of foreign players for the second half of the league which will be staged in the UAE.

During the Special General Meeting (SGM) which had taken place on May 29, the BCCI were pondering over the thought to have a discussion with the boards, to make the players available from England and Australia for the eight-team tournament.

Now, with CWI agreeing to BCCI’s request, the board is confident of convincing CA and ECB to ensure foreign player participation for the reaming 31 games.

“Both IPL and CPL are important to CWI, to our cricketers and to fans. CWI’s role was to facilitate arrangements for a non-overlapping and smooth transition from one tournament to the next. Cricket administrators must collaborate if cricket is to survive the risks and costs of COVID-19,” Ricky Skerritt, the CWI President, told ESPNcricinfo.

The majority of the foreign players are from England and Australia, and if they give IPL a miss, then surely the eight teams will face a lot of problems. England and Australia have a packed calendar year with the former hosting Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India for the limited-overs series and Tests respectively. Apart from that, England are also set to host The Hundred tournament, which is starting on July 21.

Meanwhile, Australia are set to travel to West Indies and Bangladesh for a white-ball series. This makes it very difficult for the players from both teams to feature in the remaining IPL. On the other hand, if England and Australia players

Australian Cricketers Confirm Their Availability For UAE Leg Of IPL 2021 & More Cricket News

The second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on September 19 and the BCCI seems to have solved the problem of the availability of the overseas players. After England, now even most of the Australia players are also available for entirety of remaining 31 matches of the season. As many as 20 players from down under have been signed this season to play in the IPL.

Reportedly, Cricket Australia (CA) has left it to the players over travelling to the UAE to participate in the T20 extravaganza. And most of the players seem interested to play. Interestingly, all the IPL-bound players opted out of the West Indies and Bangladesh tours. Among unavailable, Pat Cummins has already that he and his wife are expecting their first baby and he might not feature in the IPL this season anymore.

Moreover, according to Telegraph, Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis have confirmed their availability. Both of them play for the Delhi Capitals. Nathan Coulter Nile and Chris Lynn of Mumbai Indians and Glenn Maxwell of Royal Challengers Bangalore will also play the rest of the season.

It is understood that There is still uncertainty over Sunrisers Hyderabad opener David Warner returning to the IPL this year and the same is expected to get clear in the next few days. He was axed from SRH captaincy just before the league was suspended due to COVID-19 cases inside the bubble. The team didn’t do well in the first half under his captaincy and was even dropped soon. Kane Williamson took over the mantle of the side.

Meanwhile, the foreign flavour of the IPL is intact now with almost all the overseas players set to be available. England cricketers were not expected to play after the board’s managing director of cricket Ashley Giles had cleared that they would honour bilateral commitments. New Zealand Cricketers To Be Available For UAE Leg Of IPL 2021 And More Cricket News

The second leg of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence from September 19 in the UAE. The participation of many players is doubtful ahead of the marquee event owing to the Covid-19 protocols, national duties, rest concerns, and the preparation of the T20 World Cup. However, what comes as a sigh of relief for the franchises is that the New Zealand players will now be available for the remainder of the IPL 2021.

New Zealand is expected to tour Pakistan in the September-October window which had made their participation in the IPL doubtful. Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson are some of the key names that stand important for their respective franchises and thus this news would iron out a lot of concerns for the teams. The New Zealand Cricket chief David White confirmed the participation of the New Zealand players despite their white-ball series against Pakistan during the same window.

The tension around the inaugural edition of the Kashmir Premier League is not coming to an end, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) casting some serious allegations against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

After former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs took to Twitter to reveal how the BCCI was “preventing him” from participating in the league, the PCB issued a statement alleging the BCCI for breaching international norms and the spirit of the gentleman’s game. More recently, the former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to express displeasure over the entire KPL row.

The sport of cricket has seen innumerable on-field rivalries. While they usually end with the end of players’ cricket careers, a couple of gentlemen have managed to keep a rivalry of sorts alive despite having said goodbye to the game many moons back. It is not a hard guess – they are the frenemies Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan.

The duo has had the most rib-tickling and hilarious banters on Twitter, where neither of the

he second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is set to get underway on September 19 and cricket fans worldwide must have marked their calendars. After all, IPL is arguably the most celebrated T20 competition across the globe. However, the participation of several foreign players is under dark clouds due to travel and quarantine restrictions. Notably, the high-voltage T20 World Cup will commence days after the conclusion of the Indian T20 league.

Hence, many cricket boards are skeptical of sending their players in IPL. Several England players were also expected to skip the remaining season. However, it is now learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received the green signal from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on the participation of English players. It happened due to the postponement of Bangladesh vs England white-ball series before the T20 World Cup.

For the unversed, Bangladesh was scheduled to host England in three ODIs and as many T20Is in September-October. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said the board is trying to reschedule the series after the T20 World Cup.

“Both the teams [Bangladesh and England] are playing a lot of cricket before the T20 World Cup, so we are discussing with the ECB whether the series can be hosted after the World Cup.

However, the postponement of their tour to Bangladesh mutually by the two boards opened the door for players to play in the cash-rich league.
