रक्षा बंधन का त्यौहार भारत वर्ष में मनाया जाने वाला एक प्रमुख त्यौहार है जो भाई बहन के प्रेम के प्रतीक के रूप में मनाया जाता है! यह पर्व भारत में सदियों से मनाया जाता रहा है लेकिन रक्षा बंधन की अनसुनी कहानी ये भी है कि शुरू में रक्षा बंधन को सिर्फ भाई बहन के त्यौहार के रूप में नहीं मनाया जाता था!

तो फिर क्या है रक्षा बंधन के पीछे की कहानी और रक्षा बंधन क्यों मनाया जाता है? भविष्य पुराण में बताया गया है कि इन्द्र के साथ राक्षसों के राजा बलि युद्ध चल रहा था. इस युद्ध के समाधान के लिए इंद्र की पत्नी सची भगवन विष्णु के पास गई. विष्णु जी ने इंद्र की पत्नी को एक धागा अपने पति की कलाई पर बांधने के लिए दिया और माना जाता है कि इस धागे कि वजह से ही इंद्र देव सालों से चल रहे युद्ध को जीत गए. तभी से कहा जाता है कि रक्षा बंधन की शुरुआत हुई!
