    The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Karnataka government to release 15 thousand cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu for the next 10 days to make sure the samba crops in Tamil Nadu survive. Karnataka had offered to release 10,000 cusecs every day while demanding 20,000 cusecs for itself. The supervisory committee has been asked to pass orders on Tamil Nadu's plea in 10 days. The court posted the matter for further hearing on September 16. Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister has convened an all party meet to discuss Cauvery Issue.

    कावेरी जल बंटवारे को लेकर कर्नाटक और तमिलनाडु के बीच विवाद तेज होता जा रहा है. जल विवाद को लेकर दिए गए सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेश के खिलाफ जिले में किसानों और कन्नड़ समर्थक समूहों ने बंद बुलाया है...ये लोग सुप्रीम कोर्ट के फैसले को लेकर प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं, जिसमें कहा गया है कि कर्नाटक को अपने पड़ोसी राज्य तमिलनाडु को कावेरी से पानी देना होगा...मांड्या कावेरी बेसिन का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण इलाका है. इस क्षेत्र में आमतौर पर कावेरी के मुद्दे पर विरोध-प्रदर्शन होते रहे हैं...ऐसे में प्रदर्शन को देखते हुए जिले के स्कूल और कॉलेज आज बंद हैं और राज्य परिवहन निगम की बसों को भी हाइवे पर जाने से रोक दिया गया है. सुरक्षा कारणों के मद्देनजर सुरक्षा के कड़े इंतज़ाम किए गए है...प्रदर्शनकारियों का हाइवे पर प्रदर्शन जारी है..दरअसल तमिलनाडु ने एक सुप्रीम कोर्ट में एक याचिका दाखिल कर राज्य के 40 हजार एकड़ क्षेत्र में खड़ी फसल बचाने के लिए कोर्ट से कर्नाटक को कावेरी का 50.52 टीएमसी फीट पानी छोड़ने के लिए निर्देश देने की मांग की है. इसके जवाब में कर्नाटक का कहना है कि वह पहले ही पानी की कमी से जूझ रहा है. सुनवाई के दौरान कर्नाटक सरकार के वकील एफएस नरीमन ने कहा, पिछले कुछ महीनों में बारिश कम होने के कारण तमिलनाडु के लिए पानी छोड़ना मुश्किल है...लेकिन सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस मामले में तमिलनाडू के हक में फैसला सुनाया था,,और 15 दिन के अंदर पानी तमिलनाडू को देने को कहा है...
