STORYLINE :
Suspected Islamic militants on Tuesday shot and killed two policemen in separate incidents in Srinagar, Indian-controlled Kashmir's main city, police said.
In the first incident an officer was standing by his vehicle in the city's Batmaloo neighbourhood when he was shot twice by gunmen, a police commander said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, but declared dead on arrival, he added.
Several hours later a second policeman was shot dead at close range while on duty in the Hazratbal neighbourhood, said police.
No militant group claimed responsibility for the shootings, which follow a similar attack on a policeman on Sunday.
It was not immediately clear if their was a connection between the shootings.
Also on Tuesday suspected militants threw a hand grenade at a group of policemen in the town of Baramullah, wounding two officers and three civilian bystanders, reported a local policeBy Sanjeev| 437 views

Police said that after receiving specific inputs, the Amargarh area was cordoned around midnight. The militants were hiding inside a house, and the security forces asked them to surrender. When they refused, a gun battle began around 2am and ended at 5.55am, officials said.
“We requested the terrorists to surrender but they opened fire, we responded in the same way then,” Rajeshwar Jamwal,commanding officer of the Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, told the media.

A policeman was martyred and another injured in an attack by militants in Zakura area on the outskirts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Three militants travelling in a car opened fire on a police team at the Zakura crossing on Srinagar-Ganderbal road, killing sub-inspector Imran Tak and injuring to a special police officer (SPO), a police official said.
The official said the police team managed to intercept the car and apprehended one militant, but two others fled from the scene.
