Around four crore old vehicles are currently on the roads of the country including the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh. Two crore of these vehicles are more than 20 years old. The central government has got an eye on these vehicles. That is why preparations are being made to impose green tax on all of them. If we talk about the country, Karnataka comes at the top, here about 70 lakh old vehicles, which are more than 15 years old, are running on the roads. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has digitized such vehicles across the country. A proposal to impose green tax on such vehicles has already been sent to the states.
