Former Indian cricketer and current President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly stated that he will not be able to tell what his legacy is as the President of the Indian cricket board.
Ganguly also added that he will instead leave it open to the fans to judge his legacy. Adding that his tenure has taken place in tough circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the cricketing legend said that Indian cricket is fortunate that in spite of the pandemic, they have had a majority of the cricket matches taking place.
“What’s my legacy? Well, I won’t be able to tell it now. Let’s see what happens. It is up to you all to judge my legacy, it is what it is. But it has been under tough circumstances due to Covid-19 over the last two years. The pandemic has wreaked havoc all over the world and we are fortunate that we could still manage to get a majority of cricket done,” said Ganguly.
Sourav Ganguly also stated that everything has been put in place at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and both Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are working together, and there are also several other coaches who work with them as well. Adding that a new facility is now being built at the NCA, the 49-year-old concluded by stating that the new NCA facility will be completed in one and half years.
“We have put everything in place. Laxman and Rahul work together. There are coaches who work alongside them. The U-19 coaches, too, work with the NCA and some of them are currently with the team in the World Cup. The new NCA facility is being built, the construction will start probably this month. It will take 18 months to finish. Everything has been put in place,” concluded Sourav Ganguly.

Aakash Chopra feels a loyalty test lies ahead for SA players and more cricket news
Former India opener Aakash Chopra feels that the choice of picking between the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League and national duty is a “very difficult question” for the South African players, who are scheduled to play three ODIs on March 18, 20 and 23 followed by a two-Test series that runs between March 31 and April 12 against Bangladesh.
Given the bio-bubble protocols, any player entering the IPL bubble needs to mandatorily serve a three-day quarantine and RT-PCR tests before being allowed to join their squad. Therefore, any of South Africa’s IPL-bound players choosing to play the Bangladesh series can, even at the earliest, join their team on April 16.
As it stands, Cricket South Africa (CSA) have left it to players to make their choice and pick either playing Bangladesh series or joining their teams at the IPL, which starts from March 26 and will conclude on May 29.
“South Africa have said that they will tell the players that they have the option, let’s test your loyalty to the nation. Very difficult question to address because the ODI series will start on March 18, the IPL is starting on March 26 and there is a three-day quarantine before that,” Chopra weighed on the matter on his YouTube channel.
“The three ODIs are on March 18, 20 and 23. Quinton de Kock is an important member here, so he might not be available for the first match. Lucknow Super Giants – think about it, unless he decides to miss those ODIs,” he added.
In all, there are nearly a dozen players from South Africa who are a part of the 2022 IPL, including the likes of red-ball mainstays Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and youngster Marco Jansen, as well as white-ball regulars Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller and Dwaine Pretorious.

8 Teams Or 10 Teams? What Is The Future Of IPL? BCCI Officials Opens Up And More Cricket News
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has currently put the proposed 10-team IPL plans on hold as of now. The Board was all set to launch two new teams in the year 2022 with a mega auction scheduled for the 15th season. However, the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has put those plans on hold as BCCI is currently keen on finishing the 2021 tournament, which was postponed indefinitely on May 04, 2021.
The IPL was running smoothly with 29 completed games before the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders was called off due to two players from the KKR camp testing positive for the virus. The two players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier breached the bio-bubble norms and came to the place without serving the quarantine period.
“Time is not right to even talk about the new IPL teams at this stage. We have to first decide the way forward on the suspended season and then only decisions can be taken on the new teams for IPL 2022. No discussion in this regard is happening at this stage in the BCCI,” the official was quoted as saying by InsideSport.
“We don’t see any moment on this before July. We can’t give any timelines at this stage. As I said, no discussion currently in this regard is taking place in BCCI for now,” he added.
Earlier, it was stated that the board wanted to get the two new teams finalized by this month to give the franchises enough time to prepare for the 2022 season. Those plans have now been pushed back, although it will conduct a mega player auction next year to give all the teams a fair chance at making their squad strong.

Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals were involved in a high-scoring clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Batting first, Punjab’s opening batsman Mayank Agarwal launched an assault on the opposition batters as he played a blistering knock of 69 runs off just 36 deliveries.
Mayank along with skipper KL Rahul stitched a crucial partnership of 122 runs in 12.4 overs in which the latter played second fiddle and anchored the innings. Punjab was batting with a run rate of 10 and was expected to post a score of 220 to 225 runs. However, Mayank’s wicket in the 13th over put a temporary halt on the flow of the runs.
Rahul was looking decent in the middle and was expected to lead from the front to give time to other batsmen to settle. However, the skipper failed to accelerate and lost his wicket in the 16th over after playing a knock of 61 runs off 51 deliveries. Towards the end, Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan played quickfire-cameos as they scored 22 off 13 and 15 off 5.
However, Punjab Kings fell short of five runs from posting 200 runs on the board. The team’s inability of scoring 20 to 25 runs extra in the death overs made all the difference as Delhi Capitals won the match by six wickets with ten balls to spare. The former Indian cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra opined on PBKS loss saying that KL Rahul will regret not accelerating his innings.

Quinton de Kock Set To IPL 2021 Opener Against RCB For Mumbai Indians And More Cricket News
he inaugural match of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While the Mumbai side has won the IPL trophy a colossal 5 times, the Bangalore side has not managed to get their hands on the IPL trophy even once.
And, both the teams will be looking to start their respective IPL campaigns on a winning note. However, the Mumbai Indians will be without their star opener Quinton De Kock for the opening rubber. The left-hander joined the Mumbai Indians camp after featuring in the first two ODI’s that South Africa played against Pakistan.
And, as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) protocols, De Kock will have to mandatorily undergo one week of quarantine. And now, dashing opening batsman Chris Lynn is expected to replace De Kock for the opening rubber. The same was confirmed by the official website of the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians have made a dismal start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 campaign, losing their first three games of the season. Several loopholes have been exposed in the Rohit Sharma-led side and many are not backing them to go a long way this season. Meanwhile, a fragile bowling attack has arguably been MI’s biggest problem so far.
While Jasprit Bumrah spearheads the attack, he hasn’t received much support from his partners. The likes of Tymal Mills and Daniel Sams haven’t really lived up to the expectations. While Basil Thampi took a three-fer in his first assignment this season, he went for runs in his next two outings. Speaking on the matter, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag urged MI to induct Jaydev Unadkat into the playing XI.
One of the only two bowlers to take two five-fers in IPL history, Unadkat has been warming the benches so far and Sehwag reckons the left-arm pacer’s experience should be utilized. “Until last year, MI had someone like a Nathan Coulter-Nile, who would play if a pacer wasn’t performing well or was injured. If you look at MI’s bench strength now, it’s like the management will think twice to include those sitting out of the XI,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
“The likes of Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat, Riley Meredith, and Arshad Khan are sitting out. Besides, even guys such as Sanjay Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar, Hrithik Shokeen, and others aren’t the type of names who can replace Basil Thampi or Daniel Sams,” he added.
MI’s bowling stocks appear weak: Virender Sehwag
Notably, Unadkat has taken 85 wickets in 86 IPL matches but his economy rate of 8.74 is on the higher side. From getting the new ball to swing to delivering slower deliveries in the slog overs, the 30-year-old has many weapons in his armoury. However, his tendency to get wayward has restricted him from performing consistently.

Former cricketer and Sri Lanka’s legendary pacer Lasith Malinga has extended support towards his former IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI) after they lost their sixth game in a row. MI has had the worst start to their IPL 2022 campaign, as they lost their sixth consecutive match in the league, and is the only winless team this season so far.
The Rohit Sharma-led side is struggling to open their account, and are not able to stand up to their ‘five-time champions’ tag. The team is just not able to frame the right strategy to start their game on a positive note.
Malinga, who is the bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals this season, shared his thoughts on the team and the players’ ability to make a comeback. He said: “@mipaltan has always been a team of comebacks. Whether or not they get through to the playoffs this year, expect them to have a strong finish to the season. Their core group of players and the support staff definitely have the quality to pull them back.”
Even the MI skipper Rohit Sharma has not had a good run this season. In the six games played, Sharma has only 114 runs, with his highest score being 41. MI is the most successful franchise in the history of the IPL, and this season’s start has been a nightmare for the team.
This is the first time that Mumbai Indians have lost the first six games of an IPL season. Prior to this, they had suffered five consecutive losses in the year 2014, but they made a massive comeback and made their way into the playoffs.
In their recent encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), skipper KL Rahul’s unbeaten knock of 103* helped his side post a total of 199/4, leaving MI to chase 200 in 20 overs. The Mumbai batting line-up did not give up till the last ball, but the efforts by the batters were just not enough to beat LSG.

Aakash Chopra Blames KL Rahul For PBKS Loss Against Delhi Capitals & More Cricket News
Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals were involved in a high-scoring clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Batting first, Punjab’s opening batsman Mayank Agarwal launched an assault on the opposition batters as he played a blistering knock of 69 runs off just 36 deliveries.
Mayank along with skipper KL Rahul stitched a crucial partnership of 122 runs in 12.4 overs in which the latter played second fiddle and anchored the innings. Punjab was batting with a run rate of 10 and was expected to post a score of 220 to 225 runs. However, Mayank’s wicket in the 13th over put a temporary halt on the flow of the runs.
Rahul was looking decent in the middle and was expected to lead from the front to give time to other batsmen to settle. However, the skipper failed to accelerate and lost his wicket in the 16th over after playing a knock of 61 runs off 51 deliveries. Towards the end, Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan played quickfire-cameos as they scored 22 off 13 and 15 off 5.
However, Punjab Kings fell short of five runs from posting 200 runs on the board. The team’s inability of scoring 20 to 25 runs extra in the death overs made all the difference as Delhi Capitals won the match by six wickets with ten balls to spare. The former Indian cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra opined on PBKS loss saying that KL Rahul will regret not accelerating his innings.

Quinton de Kock Set To IPL 2021 Opener Against RCB For Mumbai Indians And More Cricket News
he inaugural match of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While the Mumbai side has won the IPL trophy a colossal 5 times, the Bangalore side has not managed to get their hands on the IPL trophy even once.
And, both the teams will be looking to start their respective IPL campaigns on a winning note. However, the Mumbai Indians will be without their star opener Quinton De Kock for the opening rubber. The left-hander joined the Mumbai Indians camp after featuring in the first two ODI’s that South Africa played against Pakistan.
And, as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) protocols, De Kock will have to mandatorily undergo one week of quarantine. And now, dashing opening batsman Chris Lynn is expected to replace De Kock for the opening rubber. The same was confirmed by the official website of the Mumbai Indians. Lynn has featured in 41 IPL matches and has scored 1280 runs at a strike rate of 140.66.

Virender Sehwag has a piece of advice for struggling Mumbai Indians and more cricket news
Mumbai Indians have made a dismal start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 campaign, losing their first three games of the season. Several loopholes have been exposed in the Rohit Sharma-led side and many are not backing them to go a long way this season. Meanwhile, a fragile bowling attack has arguably been MI’s biggest problem so far.
While Jasprit Bumrah spearheads the attack, he hasn’t received much support from his partners. The likes of Tymal Mills and Daniel Sams haven’t really lived up to the expectations. While Basil Thampi took a three-fer in his first assignment this season, he went for runs in his next two outings. Speaking on the matter, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag urged MI to induct Jaydev Unadkat into the playing XI.
One of the only two bowlers to take two five-fers in IPL history, Unadkat has been warming the benches so far and Sehwag reckons the left-arm pacer’s experience should be utilized. “Until last year, MI had someone like a Nathan Coulter-Nile, who would play if a pacer wasn’t performing well or was injured. If you look at MI’s bench strength now, it’s like the management will think twice to include those sitting out of the XI,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
“The likes of Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat, Riley Meredith, and Arshad Khan are sitting out. Besides, even guys such as Sanjay Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar, Hrithik Shokeen, and others aren’t the type of names who can replace Basil Thampi or Daniel Sams,” he added.
MI’s bowling stocks appear weak: Virender Sehwag
Notably, Unadkat has taken 85 wickets in 86 IPL matches but his economy rate of 8.74 is on the higher side. From getting the new ball to swing to delivering slower deliveries in the slog overs, the 30-year-old has many weapons in his armoury. However, his tendency to get wayward has restricted him from performing consistently.

Lasith Malinga Backs Mumbai Indians To Finish The IPL 2022 Season Strong And More Cricket News
Former cricketer and Sri Lanka’s legendary pacer Lasith Malinga has extended support towards his former IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI) after they lost their sixth game in a row. MI has had the worst start to their IPL 2022 campaign, as they lost their sixth consecutive match in the league, and is the only winless team this season so far.
The Rohit Sharma-led side is struggling to open their account, and are not able to stand up to their ‘five-time champions’ tag. The team is just not able to frame the right strategy to start their game on a positive note.
Malinga, who is the bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals this season, shared his thoughts on the team and the players’ ability to make a comeback. He said: “@mipaltan has always been a team of comebacks. Whether or not they get through to the playoffs this year, expect them to have a strong finish to the season. Their core group of players and the support staff definitely have the quality to pull them back.”
Even the MI skipper Rohit Sharma has not had a good run this season. In the six games played, Sharma has only 114 runs, with his highest score being 41. MI is the most successful franchise in the history of the IPL, and this season’s start has been a nightmare for the team.
This is the first time that Mumbai Indians have lost the first six games of an IPL season. Prior to this, they had suffered five consecutive losses in the year 2014, but they made a massive comeback and made their way into the playoffs.
In their recent encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), skipper KL Rahul’s unbeaten knock of 103* helped his side post a total of 199/4, leaving MI to chase 200 in 20 overs. The Mumbai batting line-up did not give up till the last ball, but the efforts by the batters were just not enough to beat LSG.
