In the third episode of our mini-series, we bring you glimpses of what our journey from Sarchu to Leh looked like. The night wasn’t easy. At an altitude of 14,070 feet, there are many health-related issues you can face in Sarchu. You become extremely prone to develop AMS but for that very reason, it is important to spend time here as it makes your body acclimatized to the weather as well as the ascend. It is important to note that it’s crucial to keep your body hydrated whenever making a journey that requires you to go on a high altitude which is exactly what we did to avoid any further health-related risks as we spent more time in Sarchu.
After a few hours, it worked as the uneasiness and discomfort left our body and we embarked on our journey to Leh.
The trip offers an incredible opportunity to explore more places midway through Leh. The Pangong Tso lake, one of the most sought-after destinations, popularised because of the Aamir Khan movie 3 idiots is en route to Leh.
Situated at an altitude of more than 16,000 ft and surrounded by lofty mountains, the view at Moore plains was something out of the ordinary with the panoramic view of the Himalayas overlooking your shoulder and a stretch of plain land spreading like a tapestry beneath your feet.
After a long drive, you get the best view of Tangalanga top, which is a high altitude mountain pass situated at an altitude of 17,480 ft with a panoramic view of the great Himalayas and is the pride of Ladakh.
Afterward, we had lunch at one local restaurant before resuming our long drive. Finally, we arrived at Leh but dusk had fallen and the entire district had hidden behind a veil of darkness. But there was nothing to fret about because this is just the beginning.

In the fourth episode of our mini-series, we explore #ladakh to our hearts' content. After a briefing session provided by the trip captain, we embark on our journey in our tempo travelers while some of our fellow adventure enthusiasts who opted for a #biketrip ride away on their two-wheelers.
Our first stop was The Hall of fame. A war memorial dedicated majorly to the #Kargil war that occurred in 1999, The hall of fame is run by the Indian army and houses weapons, historical exhibits, and souvenir shops. We were also given insights into what the war entailed and how operation Vijay became a success all those years ago.
Afterward, we paid our respects at the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib where we also learned the local legend of a demon and how he attacked the Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Sahib with a boulder who was meditating at that time. The rock, as if made of wax, turned soft and couldn’t cause any harm. That boulder is present on the premise of the gurdwara and many devotees come here to worship.
Ladakh is, first and foremost, a paradise for adventurers and our next stop was the perfect way for us to get the adrenaline pumping through our veins. गर्मी के मौसम में हिल स्टेशन जाने के शौकीन लोगों को मनाली लेह हाईवे के खुलने का बेसब्री से इन्तजार रहता है।
आपकी सूचना के लिये हम बता दें की मनाली लेह हाईवे को खोलने का काम तेजी से चल रहा है। तस्स्वीरों में आप देख सकते हैं की किस तरह बड़े बड़े क्रेन और मशीनों की मदद से बर्फ की कई फुट मोटी परत हो हटाने का काम युद्ध स्तर पर जारी है।
इसमें बॉर्डर रोड्स आर्गेनाईजेशन यानि की बीआरओ और सेना की मुख्य भूमिका रहती है।
बहरहाल मनाली लेह हाईवे आम ट्रैफिक के लिये बंद है। बीआरओ के प्रयासों से पतेसो और केलोंग तक बर्फ हटाने का काम पूरा कर लिया है और बाकी का रास्ता क्लियर करने का काम भी लगातार जारी है। बीआरओ से प्राप्त सूचना के मुताबिक 25 मई तक मनाली लेह हाईवे खुलने की उम्मीद जताई जा रही है।
सैलानियों और रोड ट्रिप के शौकीन लोगों के लिये ये सूचना खुशखबरी है की इस बार रास्ते मई महीने में ही खुलने के आसार जताये जा रहे हैं। दिल्ली के 'THE ROAD TRIPPERS' ग्रुप को भी मनाली लेह रास्ते खुलने का ही इन्तजार है जिसके बाद वो हर साल की तरह इस बार भी रोड ट्रिप के जरिए लेह लदाख और पूरे जम्मू कश्मीर तक का सफ़र तय करने वाले हैं।

In the first episode of our mini-series, we bring you glimpses of what our journey from Manali to Ladakh consisted of. We stayed the night in a hotel in Manali exchanging stories and bonding over our shared love for traveling with Vibhu ( @Mount Stories ).
The next day, we prepare for our long #ladakh road trip ahead. After packing up all the necessary belongings, having breakfast, and sharing some helpful tips with the group, we say goodbye to #manali and make our way to the iconic Atal tunnel, which is the longest highway tunnel built at an elevation of 10000 ft in the world.
Surrounded by the great Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway, the view after we exited the Northern Portal of Atal Pass was to die for and we made a brief stop to take in the beauty of the moment. The distance between Tandi, the last petrol station, that you can find before you reach Leh is almost 360kms and so we refilled our fuel and resumed our journey.
As we proceeded, we made a pit stop at #keylong valley to get some food as well as explore the market which provides the warmest jackets, thermals, and other necessary layers that can help you survive in the extremely cold temperature of #leh. Our last stop was Jispa, from where we could see the mountain ranges, beyond which Leh awaits us with open arms, beckoning us closer, telling us that the journey was just beginning.
