Cricket fans can’t keep calm as Virat Kohli is set to add another feather to his already-illustrious hat. The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali will mark Kohli’s 100th appearance in the format and many eyes will be on him. On the eve of the clash, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar lavished massive praises on Kohli while speaking about his about the latter’s ability to shine under pressure.
Gavaskar, who’s among the 11 Indians to have played 100 Tests before Kohli, asserted playing these games in the longest format is itself an achievement. He also went to draw comparisons between the 33-year-old and former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad. Gavaskar highlighted the two belong to a rare breed of batters who like to sledge bowlers and provoke them.
Hanuma Vihari is one of the unsung cricketing heroes of India who has got the job done for the team whenever it was demanded from him but more importantly has also put the teamabove himself. And now, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has revealed that no name has been discussed as of now to replace Kohli. The BCCI official also added that as of now, Rohit Sharma is the vice-captain of the Indian Test side.
The official further added that there is enough time for the BCCI to decide who will replace Kohli as the next Test captain.
“No name has been discussed to replace Virat Kohli yet. Rohit Sharma is the designated vice-captain of the team. There is enough time to decide who will replace Virat Kohli as Test captain,” said the BCCI official.
The official also added that the BCCI will soon take a call as to who will replace Virat Kohli as the skipper of the Indian Test side. Adding that the Indian selectors are still deliberating on the options, the official concluded by stating that the selection committee will give its final recommendation in due course of time.

Shreyas Iyer was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auctions. The Capitals retained Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje, and Axar Patel.
And ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auctions, a report in India Today has stated that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise is interested in roping in Iyer as their new skipper after Virat Kohli stepped down as the RCB captain after IPL 2021.
The report further added that the RCB franchise will bid aggressively for Iyer in the upcoming IPL mega auctions that are slated to be held next month.

In what can be called a shocking announcement, Virat Kohli has stepped down as India’s Test captain. The 33-year-old took to Twitter on Saturday (January 15) and informed about the same. Kohli’s jaw-dropping decision came a day after India’s Test series defeat against South Africa. India, despite having a 1-0 lead, failed to win their maiden Test series in the rainbow nation.
The same earned them a lot of criticism. However, Kohli leaving Test captaincy never seemed on the cards. He also thanked former coach Ravi Shastri and ex-captain MS Dhoni for supporting him in his journey. Kohli, who stepped down as India’s white-ball captain last year, also said he feels it’s the right time for him to step down as Test captain.
