Phishing attacks threatening industries
Anyone who uses the internet or phones can be a target for phishing scammers. In the last year, cyber criminals delivered a wave of cyberattacks that were not just highly coordinated, but far more advanced than ever before seen. #Cybersecurity incidents are not only growing more prevalent but are also becoming more costly.
Simple endpoint attacks became complex, multi-stage operations. Ransomware attacks hit small businesses and huge corporations alike. Crypto-mining attacks gave cyber criminals an easy foothold into company networks.
Across the web, phishing attacks have baited unsuspecting victims into handing over bank info, social security numbers, and more. Plus, cybercriminals have become even savvier with their disguises. Sometimes these scams hide behind voices you know and trust, like your co-workers, your bank, or even your government. If you so much as click a link, you could be the scammer’s next victim.
The most common scenario is:
· You open your email and suddenly an alert from your bank appears in your inbox. When you click the link in the email, you are taken to a webpage that looks, more or less, like your bank.
· Here’s the catch: this site is actually designed to steal your information. The alert will say there is a problem with your account and ask you to confirm your login and password.
· After entering your credentials on the page that appears, you are usually sent to the actual institution to enter your information a second time. By steering you to the legitimate institution, you don't immediately realize your information was stolen.
LinkedIn is a tempting target to spoof because the networking site often sends out emails with updates about your profile, your job search results and other topics. Since LinkedIn users are comfortable receiving emails, cybercriminals can more easily send out messages with links to phishing sites.

APIs becoming fast-growing threat vectors
As the post-pandemic world leans heavily on digital interaction to maintain user connections, the volume of API traffic has grown rapidly. However, this growth has also brought on emerging security challenges. Organizations must regularly test Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to identify vulnerabilities, and address these vulnerabilities using security best practices. APIs may have vulnerabilities like broken authentication and authorization, lack of rate limiting, and code injection. With organizations often having hundreds or even thousands of APIs in use, the task of securing them all is highly complex. The challenge requires a strategic approach for security assessment that can be applied universally and efficiently across a diverse set of APIs. An API attack is abusive or manipulative usage or attempted usage of an API, commonly used to breach data or manipulate a commerce solution. The growth of APIs (application programming interfaces) is more important than ever. It can lead to malicious traffic growth, consequently. APIs today prove their value by driving new digital business revenue growth and transforming decades-old business models. Such APIs have also become a fast-growing threat vector and a nexus of what research group Forrester calls “API insecurity.” What the enterprise needs is to approach APIs from a zero-trust security paradigm.
API breaches, including those at Capital One, JustDial, T-Mobile, and elsewhere, continue to underscore how perimeter-based approaches to securing web applications aren’t scaling well for today’s APIs.
APIs start with zero-trust security
Given how pervasive APIs are today, organizations need an overarching API security strategy that scales to address compliance and security challenges while keeping business outcomes in balance. Zero-trust security can address those challenges and is needed to secure APIs throughout the software development lifecycle and into production.

A study by Citrix Systems shows hybrid work is here to stay and in this new world of work, delivering a unified, secure, and simplified work experience will be key to success. Many companies viewed remote work as a short-term solution to the pandemic, they now recognize it must be part of their permanent workforce and cost management strategies. When asked how they would prefer to work post-pandemic 52% of respondents said they want a hybrid model where they can choose to work remotely or from the office each day; 16% indicated they have no interest in returning to the office and would prefer a permanently remote role; 45% noted that if they were to change jobs, they would only accept a role which offered flexible and remote work options; and nearly 75% said they would likely consider relocating to a different city if they could perform their role to the same level without commuting to a place of work.
With a lack of boundaries between their work and personal lives and no commute to manage, two-thirds of employees polled say they are working the same or more hours. And while they remain productive, many are struggling to do so. The study found that 41% of employees cited distractions in their home environment, 28% say they lack appropriate technologies and applications to get work done and 36% feel isolated and out of touch with colleagues. As many companies have learned through the pandemic, digital workspaces are an efficient and effective way to do this, as they: (i) Unify work – whether at home, on plane or in an office, employees have consistent and reliable access to all the resources they need to be productive across any work channel, device or location; (ii) Secure work – contextual access and app security, ensure applications and information remain secure – no matter where work happens and (iii) Simplify work – Intelligence capabilities like machine learning, virtual assistanদ্বাৰা VARINDIA| 54 মতামত

Ransomware is a type of malware cyber-attack where key files are encrypted by hackers that renders data inaccessible to the victim. It is a criminal extortion tool and after an attack has occurred, the hackers will promise to restore systems and data when ransom is paid by the victims. From the recent news it has been observed that the threat actors were attempting to recruit employees by offering them to pay $1 million in bitcoins to deploy Black Kingdom ransomware on companies' networks as part of an insider threat scheme. The employee was told they can launch the ransomware physically or remotely. The sender provided two methods to contact them if the employee is interested-an Outlook email account and a Telegram username. It’s also worth noting that LinkedIn is used to collect email addresses for senior management companies. Now the crooks are using Linkedin as the breeding ground to get the email id and contacts to spread the activities to the corporate world.
Internal threats are highly risky for any business, and it is vital to take protective steps against these threats. Thus, you have to check employees' backgrounds periodically. Based on their reliability, you may give access to sensitive data & appropriate privileges. Similarly, it is like creating a safe and trusted in-house team, you can keep your data secure. At a company level, there should be a clear matrix that mentions what happens inside and outside your organization, how many attacks have been stopped by human firewalls and how many were through & take corrective action. It is one of the significant aspects to ensure a good cybersecurity culture. To have proactive controls, you need to use the right tools and technologies. Bhumi Pednekar recently appeared in the comedy Thank You For Coming and the film invited some extreme reactions from the viewers. While some praised the film for its bold concept, some shamed it for that. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar, Bhumi spoke about the latter group of people and slammed them for the shaming. She expressed her disappointment towards people who didn’t criticise the film but its intent. The actress discussed the prevalent gender bias and how people never took offence when she was a part of such stories told from a male perspective. She pointed out how Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 was supported by the same people who shamed her film, when somewhere they dealt with the same subject. Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her. She highlighted the hypocrisy of the situation that people accept objectification of women but have a problem with them talking about their sexuality. You can watch the entire conversation here.
