Sunidhi Chauhan is possibly one of the best singers we have from this generation and even legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar had called her the best we have. With her music single Tum Kehte Ho that released two days ago and talks about societal shaming and breaking social norms and caging, in this episode of XtraOrdinary You on Bollywood Bubble, host Nayandeep Rakshit talks to her about her entire journey - from her name being changed from Nidhi to Sunidhi, facing rejections and being asked to 'pack her bags and leave' the industry, she's seen it all. In fact, Sunidhi who's dabbled with both dance numbers and soft, romantic ballads, initially also faced a lot of shaming, with music directors claiming her "voice was masculine". Apart from that, Sunidhi shares why competition with her other peers and contemporaries especially with Shreya Ghoshal, is only limited to fan wars and nothing between them changes. Sunidhi also breaks silence on getting married early and battling a divorce right after. She explains if a broken marriage changed her opinion towards love and how motherhood has altered her life. Sunidhi and Shalmali also opened up on the challenges they have endured throughout the journey. While Sunidhi shared that a music director once told her that she won't survive the industry because her voice is 'manly', Shalmali said that she just did not feel she fits in the industry as a playback singer. Sunidhi also spoke about the current trend of having multiple composers work on a film which leads to music losing at the end. She highlights the many problems with the industry currently and hopes things get better. Shamali too shared her excitement about space independent music has opened for artists to own up their songs. Bhumi Pednekar recently appeared in the comedy Thank You For Coming and the film invited some extreme reactions from the viewers. While some praised the film for its bold concept, some shamed it for that. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar, Bhumi spoke about the latter group of people and slammed them for the shaming. She expressed her disappointment towards people who didn’t criticise the film but its intent. The actress discussed the prevalent gender bias and how people never took offence when she was a part of such stories told from a male perspective. She pointed out how Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 was supported by the same people who shamed her film, when somewhere they dealt with the same subject. Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her. She highlighted the hypocrisy of the situation that people accept objectification of women but have a problem with them talking about their sexuality. You can watch the entire conversation here.
