Malicious IoT botnet activity
A report finds that recently there has been a sharp increase in the malicious IoT botnet activity due to growing number of #IoTdevices in use. There are billions of IoT devices in use around the world, and this number is only going to increase in the future.
An expert says, there is lax in security of many IoT devices. Many IoT devices are not properly secured, making them easy targets for attackers. IoT botnet attacks can be very profitable for attackers, as they can be used to disrupt businesses, steal data, and launch other malicious activities.
According to the Nokia Threat Intelligence Report 2023, the number of IoT devices (bots) engaged in botnet-driven DDoS attacks rose from around 200,000 a year ago to approximately 1 million devices, generating more than 40% of all DDoS traffic today. This sharp increase in botnet activity has been driven by a number of factors.
The Report found that IoT botnet DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) traffic, originating from a large number of insecure IoT devices with the aim of disrupting telecom network services for millions of users, increased fivefold over the past year, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and stemming from the growing increase in profit-driven hacking collectives operated by #cybercriminals.

As per PWC, Today’s turbulence and volatility might be here to stay. As companies look to develop resilient responses to a continual series of shocks on both the supply and demand sides, many find the old approaches less and less effective. That’s because most global supply chains were engineered decades ago to manage stable, high-volume production by capitalizing on labour-arbitrage opportunities in low-cost countries such as China, India, and Vietnam. Speed, cost efficiency, and performance comprised the “magic triangle” of supply chain management.
Given the new reality, New research from Capgemini reveals that three-quarters of organizations have been impacted by closing facilities, supply chain disruptions, employee absence, and remote work in the past three years, and less than 20% of organizations feel equipped to handle the impacts of these changes.
Greater focus on sustainability, global socio-economic changes, and shifting consumer demands has meant that organizations are facing considerable disruption to their supply chains. In this context, leaders’ most pressing concerns are reducing Carbon emissions across all tiers of the supply chain (95%) and growing e-commerce volumes (90%). Around 92% of organizations surveyed said that the ongoing relocation of the global supply chain will impact them but only 15% are equipped to deal with this.
The Highlights of India Data on the Customer Experience Trends are:
1. 81% of organisations agree that faster order fulfilment time, such as the advent of quick commerce has high business impact.

A report of Capgemini and Efma’s World InsurTech Report 2021 reveals that InsurTechs and BigTech players are leveraging significant capital inflows to boost technological development and fuel innovation, turning up the heat on incumbent insurers. New age digital players are offering greater personalization and emphasis on customer experience, thus achieving maturity and customer adoption. In response, incumbents are attempting to strengthen their tech capabilities by partnering with or acquiring InsurTechs and shifting from “doing digital” to “being digital”.
According to the report, tech giants and InsurTechs have secured unprecedented access to capital allocation from investors and are bolstering their digital capabilities, increasing their lead as innovation frontrunners. Between 2018-2020, the 5 biggest tech companies and a famous auto manufacturer which offers insurance services added almost 2.5 times the total market capitalization of the 30 largest insurers globally in 2020. By the end of 2020, the total market cap of listed InsurTechs surpassed $22 billion. InsurTechs are fast becoming the investment du jour, with a range of investors supporting and enabling the wave of flowing capital. Opportunistic venture capitalists and private equity partners are deploying early-stage capital.
