A new COVID-19 variant is wreaking havoc in China. The government of China is strictly adhering to a zero COVID policy to compete with the Omicron variant. Recently, The WHO has questioned China's policy and has urged to adopt other methods to prevent the spread of infection. Amidst all this, there is a fear of a 'Tsunami' of Corona hovering over China. A study by China's Fudan University has estimated that if the country relaxes its zero-COVID policy, then by July, there could be more than 1.6 million deaths.

कोरोना महामारी की जहां शुरुआत हुई, आज उसी देश में वायरस का नया वेरिएंट तबाही मचा रहा है। चीन में कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी की सरकार ओमिक्रॉन वेरिएंट से मुकाबले के लिए जीरो कोविड पॉलिसी का सख्ती से पालन कर रही है। हाल ही में विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने चीन की इस पॉलिसी पर सवाल उठाए हैं और संक्रमण रोकने के लिए कोई दूसरा तरीका अपनाने की बात कही है। इस सब के बीच चीन में कोरोना की 'सुनामी' की आशंका जताई गई है। दरअसल, चीन की फूडान यूनिवर्सिटी की स्टडी ने अनुमान लगाया है कि अगर देश ने अपनी जीरो-कोविड पॉलिसी में ढील दी तो जुलाई तक 16 लाख से ज्यादा मौतें हो सकती हैं।
