ചെ ഗുവേരയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള 350 പോരാളികൾ ബാറ്റിസ്റ്റയുടെ മൂവായിരത്തിലധികം വരുന്ന സൈനികരെ സാന്താക്ലാര യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തോൽപ്പിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ക്യൂബൻ ചരിത്രം ഗതിമാറിയത്.
ഫുൾജെൻസിയോ ബാറ്റിസ്റ്റയുടെ ഏകാധിപത്യ ഭരണത്തിനെതിരായി ഫിദൽ കാസ്‌ട്രോയുടെയുംഏർണസ്റ്റോ ചെ ഗുവേരയുടെയും നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ 1953 ൽ നടത്തിയ പോരാട്ടമാണ് ക്യൂബൻ വിപ്ലവം[4]. 1953 ജുലായ് 26 ന് മൊൻകാട ബാരക്സ് ആക്രമണത്തോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച ക്യൂബൻ വിപ്ലവം 1959 ലാണ് അവസാനിക്കുന്നത്. തുടർന്ന് വിപ്ലവ ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ നേതൃത്വം ഏറ്റെടുത്ത ഫിദൽ കാസ്ട്രോ ക്യൂബയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റ്, കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് പാർട്ടി ജനറൽ സെക്രട്ടറി, സർവ്വ സൈന്യാധിപൻ എന്നീ ചുമതലകൾ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു.മേരിക്കൻ ബാറ്റിസ്റ്റ ക്യൂബയിൽനിന്ന‌് പലായനംചെയ്തു. മൂന്നുദിവസത്തിന് ശേഷം ക്യൂബൻ വിപ്ലകാരികൾ ഹവാനയിലേക്ക് മാർച്ച് ചെയ്യുകയും 1959 ജനുവരി ഒന്നിന് ക്യൂബയുടെ ഭരണം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.1953 ജൂലൈ 26ന് സാന്തിയാഗോ ഡി ക്യൂബയിലെ മൊൺകാദ കോട്ട ഫിദൽ കാസ‌്ട്രോയും കൂട്ടരും ആക്രമിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ക്യൂബൻ വിപ്ലവത്തിന് തുടക്കമായത്. ഫിദലും സംഘവും അറസ്റ്റിലായി. ഈ കേസിന്റെ വിചാരണവേളയിലാണ് ‘ചരിത്രം എന്നെ കുറ്റകാരനല്ലെന്ന് വിധിക്കും’ എന്ന് ഫിദൽ പറഞ്ഞത്. തുടർന്ന് മെക‌്സിക്കോയിലേക്ക് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ട ഫിദൽ, ചെയുമൊത്ത് മറ്റ‌് 80 പേരുമായി ഗ്രാൻമ എന്ന ചെറുകപ്പലിൽ ഒറിയാന്ത പ്രവിശ്യയിലെ സിയറെ മേസ്ത്ര മലനിരകളിൽ എത്തി. ബാറ്റിസ്റ്റയുടെ സൈന്യം 70 പേരേയും വധിച്ചു. ശേഷിച്ച 12 പേരാണ് പിന്നീട് ഹവാനയിലേക്കുള്ള വിപ്ലപാത ഒരുക്കിയത്. ചരിത്രത്തിലെ അപൂർവതകളിലൊന്നാണിത്.
ക്യൂബയുടെ മേൽ അമേരിക്ക ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഉപരോധം ഉൾപ്പെടെ ആഭ്യന്തരമായും, അന്താരാഷ്ട്രപരമായും ധാരാളം പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങൾ ഉളവാക്കിയ ഒരു യുദ്ധപരമ്പരയായിരുന്നു ക്യൂബൻ വിപ്ലവത്തെ
ക്യൂബൻവിപ്ലവത്തെ തകർക്കാൻ അമേരിക്ക തുടങ്ങിവച്ച ശ്രമങ്ങൾ ഒരിക്കലും അവർ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കില്ലെന്ന് അധികാരമേറ്റ വേളയിൽ ഫിദൽ കാസ്ട്രോ ക്യൂബൻ ജനതക്ക് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകിയിരുന്നു .

Fidel Castro, Cuba's former president and leader of the Communist revolution, has died at the age of 90.
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008. The revolutionary leader retired from the public eye in 2006 after an emergency surgery to treat intestinal bleeding.
A Marxist-Leninist and Cuban nationalist, Fidel Castro also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba from 1961 until 2011.
