आज से ठीक एक साल पहले बिकरू कांड हुआ था | 2 जुलाई 2020 की आधी रात बिकरू गांव में गैंगस्टर विकास दुबे और उसके गुर्गों ने डीएसपी और एसओ समेत 8 पुलिसकर्मियों की हत्या कर दी थी। एक-एक पुलिसकर्मी को दर्जनों गोलियां मारी थीं। पुलिस और एसटीएफ ने मिलकर आठ दिन के भीतर विकास दुबे समेत छह बदमाशों को एनकाउंटर में ढेर कर दिया था। 45 आरोपी जेल में बंद हैं। केस का ट्रायल जारी है।
देश को हिला देने वाली वारदात के बाद तीन जुलाई की सुबह सबसे पहले पुलिस ने विकास के रिश्तेदार प्रेम कुमार पांडेय और अतुल दुबे को एनकाउंटर में मार गिराया। यहीं से एनकाउंटर पर एनकाउंटर शुरू हुए। इसके बाद हमीरपुर में अमर दुबे को ढेर किया। इटावा में प्रवीण दुबे मारा गया। पुलिस कस्टडी से भागने पर पनकी में प्रभात मिश्रा उर्फ कार्तिकेय मिश्रा ढेर कर दिया गया।
विकास दुबे का नौ जुलाई की सुबह उज्जैन में नाटकीय ढंग से सरेंडर हुआ था। एसटीएफ की टीम जब उसको कानपुर लेकर आ रही थी तो सचेंडी थाना क्षेत्र में हुए एनकाउंटर में विकास मार दिया गया था। एसटीएफ ने दावा किया था कि गाड़ी पलटने की वजह से विकास पिस्टल लूटकर भागा और गोली चलाईं। जवाबी कार्रवाई में वो ढेर हो गया। हालांकि टोल पर मीडिया को रोकना, टीयूवी का अचानक पलट जाना। पहले वो सफारी में लाया जा रहा था, अचानक गाड़ी का बदल जाने जैसे तमाम सवाल उठे थे। हालांकि पुलिस और मजिस्ट्रेटी जांच में सभी एनकाउंटर सही ठहराए गए।
