The areas of North and Central India are in the grip of severe heat. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert in many parts of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. But, in the meantime, a cyclone threat is looming over South-East India. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclone 'Asani' over the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a severe cyclonic storm. It is moving towards Coastal Andhra Pradesh coastal and Odisha at a speed of 25 kmph. Due to 'Asani', an alert has been issued for heavy rain and strong winds in West Bengal, Jharkhand and adjoining areas. Relief and rescue teams are also on alert.
