Give It Up LPG Subsidy Scheme: Domestic LPG is heavily subsidized by the Government of India and every cylinder that we use in our kitchen carries a substantial subsidy. This translates to a huge annual subsidy burden on the Government, draining precious resources which otherwise could have been used in developmental activities. Subsidy on domestic LPG instead of being universal needs to meet the needs of the truly needy citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined the slogan - "give it up" - to exhort the better off sections of society to forego their LPG subsidy that can be utilised in providing subsidised LPG connections to the poor. Accordingly, the Government has launched the ‘#GiveItUp’ campaign which is aimed at motivating LPG users who can afford to pay the market price for LPG to voluntarily surrender their LPG subsidy.

Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT पहल) Scheme | Government Schemes By Khanna Sir | UPSC Mains 2018
Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT is an attempt to change the mechanism of transferring subsidies launched by Government of India on 1 January 2013. This program aims to transfer subsidies directly to the people through their bank accounts. It is hoped that crediting subsidies into bank accounts will reduce leakages, delays, etc.
DBT (पहल) Structure: The primary aim of this Direct Benefit Transfer program is to bring transparency and terminate pilferage from distribution of funds sponsored by Central Government of India. In DBT, benefit or subsidy will be directly transferred to citizens living below poverty line. Central Plan Scheme Monitoring System (CPSMS), being implemented by the Office of Controller General of Accounts, will act as the common platform for routing DBT. CPSMS can be used for the preparation of beneficiary list, digitally signing the same and processing of payments in the bank accounts of the beneficiary using the Aadhaar Payment Bridge of NPCI. Sachin Gupta of Haryana’s Sirsa district secured the All India 3rd rank in the Civil Services examination 2017, the results of which were declared by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) on Friday. Gupta completed his mechnical engineering degree from Thapar university, Patiala. After completing his engineering studies, Gupta worked at a private company in Gurugram.
Sachin’s father Sudarshan Gupta, who runs a private trading fourm in Sirsa’s Bhadra Bazaar said, “He told me that he is interested in cracking the UPSC examinations and wanted to drop his job to get coaching. I accepted, as Sachin was an intelligent student. He started taking group studies and coaching from Delhi and gave the examination last year also.”
“In his first attempt, in 2016, he got All India Rank 575. But he wanted to improve his rank and wanted to go to Bangalore for better coaching. We accepted and sent him to Bangalore for better studies. Today, I got a call from him, saying that he secured 3rd All India rank. You can believe how proud a father was,” Sudarshan Gupta said.

Haryana's Anu Kumari, 31, secured second rank in UPSC exams and topped the prestigious examination among women. Mother of a four-year-old, Anu Kumari achieved this feat in her second attempt. She was just short of one mark in her previous UPSC preliminary examination. A devoted mother, she not only fulfilled her household responsibilities, but took out 10-12 hours every day for her studies.
"There was no newspaper in the village where I was preparing for my exams," the second-rank holder from Sonipat. She resorted to online content for UPSC preparations, she said.
Sharing her success mantra of cracking the UPSC Civil Services Exam, Anu Kumari said, "Strong will is necessary to achieve something in life and if you are able to do that, nothing can stop you from being successful."

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday evening announced the final results of its 2017 civil services examination. It released the list of the candidates who had topped the exam with the ranks that the candidates had obtained.
The UPSC has recommended a 990 candidates for appointments to the government. The list features 750 men and 240 women. The list of top 25 candidates, featured 8 women and 17 men.

990 names were recommended for appointment to (i) Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her.
