    Why government is brushing off the CoWIN data leak reports

    A recent news flashed that the personal data of thousands of people in India was leaked from a government server that included their personal details, whereas the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has brushed off allegations that the government's vaccination portal Covid Vaccine Intelligent Network or CoWIN has been hacked. Whereas, the National Health Authority (NHA) has denied any Covid-related data leak from the Co-WIN portal on a prima facie basis, saying the platform neither collects the address of people nor RT-PCR test results for vaccination, a top official said. This was not the first time that an alleged hack of the CoWIN platform was reported. The question is why the health ministry has immediately downplayed the claim as baseless, although it had tapped the government's counter-hacking body Computer Emergency Response Team to look into the matter.

    There have been several media reports claiming that the data stored in the Co-WIN portal has been leaked online. The leaked data reportedly was put on sale on a website called Raid Forums. A post claimed to have personal data of over 20,000 people. The data on that website shows name, age, gender, mobile number, address, date and result of Covid-19 report of accounts. Cyber Security researcher Rajshekhar Rajaharia also tweeted that personally identifiable information (PII) including name and Covid-19 results are made public through a content delivery network. He has claimed that Google has indexed lakhs of data points from the affected system. Cybercriminals on the dark web had posted the personal data of thousands of people, claiming they were from India. Now the question is when the government has heavily relied on digital technologies in terms of controlling and creating awareness about the Covid-19 pandemic and also its vaccination programme, has the government taken required precautionary measures to keep the data safe and secure?Several government departments mandate people to use

    Centre issues SOPs for people travelling abroad; CoWIN certificates to be linked with Passports

    The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Monday issued SOPs for vaccination of people undertaking international travel for education, employment and India's contingent for the Tokyo Olympics. As per the new guidelines, the CoWIN certificates of vaccinated travellers will be linked with their passports. "No other qualifying entries required in vaccination certificates, mention of vaccine-type as 'Covishield' is sufficient," the health ministry said.

    देशभर में चल रहे कोरोना वैक्सीनेशन कार्यक्रम में तेजी लाने के लिए केंद्र सरकार ने बड़ा फैसला लिया है। केंद्र सरकार ने वर्कर्स को बड़ी राहत देते हुए राज्य सरकारों को निर्देश दिए हैं कि अबसे कोविड -19 टीकाकरण अभियान के दौरान वर्कर्स के परिवार के सदस्यों को भी कवर किया जा सकता है. वहीं सार्वजनिक और निजी दोनों क्षेत्रों में कई कंपनियों ने अपने कर्मचारियों और उनके परिवार के सदस्यों के लिए टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम पहले ही तैयार कर लिया था.

    देश में हर रोज कोरोना के मामलों में कमी आ रही है। देश में 36 दिन बाद पहली बार एक दिन में ढाई लाख से कम नए कोरोना संक्रमित मिले हैं। नए मामलों से अधिक मरीजों के ठीक होने का सिलसिला जारी है। हालांकि, दैनिक मौतों की संख्या कम नहीं हो रही है जो चिंता का कारण है। केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय के ताजा आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, देश में बीते 24 घंटों में कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण के 2,22,315 नए मामले सामने आए हैं। हालांकि, इस दौरान मौत का आंकड़ा एक बार फिर से 4 हजार के पार पहुंच गया है। बीते एक दिन में 4,454 लोगों की कोरोना से मौत हुई है। देश में कोरोना से मौत का आंकड़ा 3 लाख के पार पहुंच गया है।
    देश में एक तरफ जहां कोरोना के मामले लगातार कम हो रहे हैं तो वहीं कोरोना से ठीक होने वाले मरीजों की संख्या भी बढ़ रही है। बीते 24 घंटों में देश में कोरोना से 3,02,544 लोग ठीक हुए हैं। जिसको मिलाकर देश भर में अब तक कुल 2,37,28,011 लोग कोरोना से रिकवर हो चुके हैं। भारत की कोरोना रिकवरी दर 88.69% हो गई है। देश में कोरोना के सक्रिय मामले भी कम हो रहे हैं।

    Bharat Biotech’s 'Covaxin' gets DCGI nod for phase 2, 3 clinical trials on children aged 2 to 18 yrs

    The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Thursday approved Phase 2 and 3 clinical trial of Bharat Biotech's COVAXIN vaccine in the age group of 2 to 18 years, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Bharat Biotech will conduct trials in 525 healthy volunteers. "In the trial, the vaccine will be given by intramuscular route in two doses at day 0 and day 28," it said.
