After disrupting the telecom space to compete with RIL-lead Jio to bring cheap tariff plans, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are now working on bringing cheap -- as low as Rs 500 -- 4G smartphones in the country very soon, suggests a report coming from Economic Times. These telecom operators are said to have already started working with smartphone manufacturers to make these Rs 500 4G smartphones.

According to the ET report, the prices of these 4G smartphones are expected to be as low as Rs 500, and along with which, the telcos may also offer bundled voice and data plans worth between Rs 60-70 with a validity for a month (28 days). However, it is noteworthy that, Airtel, Vodafone India and even Idea are yet to make the initiative official. The telecom operators have reportedly denied commenting on the matter as of yet.

In contrary, JioPhone -- which was launched only last year comes with an effective price of Rs 'zero' along with which the customers are required to take up a bundled plan of Rs 49. Under the Rs 49 plan, JioPhone users get unlimited calls and 1GB of 4G data every day for 28 days. However, it is noteworthy that JioPhone is a feature phone, while the competent telecom operators are working towards bringing 4G smartphones
