SMS vulnerability
#SMSvulnerability could enable #hackers to track users' locations. Researchers have issued a warning against a new vulnerability in text messaging that may allow hackers to trace users' locations. As of now, the vulnerability has been observed mainly in Android operating systems.
The vulnerability lies in the automated delivery notification feature of SMS. The research group, explains that this flaw allows hackers to track a user's location using a machine-learning program and data from the SMS system. By obtaining the victim's phone number and normal network access, hackers can monitor the victim's location worldwide.

A research from Ivanti, uncovered 64% of employees believe their experience with technology impacts their morale, but only 20% of the C-Suite put budget toward improving the digital employee experience, and only 21% of IT leaders prioritize end user experience when selecting a tool.
The report revealed that 49% of employees are frustrated by the tech and tools their organization provides and 64% believe that the way they interact with technology directly impacts morale. Conflicting views remain between C-Suite, IT, and employees when it comes to the future of work and technology's role in enabling the culture of hybrid work.
Globally the C-Suite's number one priority was employee productivity, with workplace culture and employee satisfaction falling further down the list. Furthermore, 62% of the C-Suite concede that leadership prioritizes profitability over employee experience. As employee experience continues to fall to the bottom of the C-Suite agenda, IT will continue to deprioritize it on theirs, with only 21% of IT leaders considering the end user experience to be the main priority when selecting new tools.

The value of digital advertising spend lost to fraud to touch $68 billion globally in 2022; rising from $59 billion in 2021. The Juniper Research new study, Digital Advertising Fraud: Key Trends, Competitor Landscape & Market Forecasts 2022-2026, found that those advertising in the US will potentially suffer the most in financial loss due to fraudulent activity, with total losses in the US expected to surpass $23 billion in 2022. The comprehensive research identified the top 5 countries most impacted by advertising fraud, which together account for 60% of global losses are US, Japan, China, South Korea and UK together account for 60 per cent of global digital advertising spend losses. The US represents the largest market for digital advertising spend, with high levels of Internet penetration and elevated mobile app and browser usage presenting strong opportunities for the display of promotional content. The researchers urged digital advertisers targeting these five key markets to form strategic partnerships with ad fraud detection and prevention vendors capable of distinguishing between valid and fraudulent advertising traffic that provides no return on ad spend.
Research author Scarlett Woodford remarked: “With the US representing such a significant market in terms of advertising spend, campaigns in North America will undoubtedly attract the attention of fraudulent players. The Digital India programme has now become a movement which is empowering common Indians with the power of technology. The extensive spread of mobile phones, Internet etc. has also enabled many social media platforms to expand their footprints in India. Common people are also using these platforms in a very significant way. The major social media platforms active in India are WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. These social platforms have enabled common Indians to show their creativity, ask questions, be informed and freely share their views, including criticism of the Government and its functionaries.
The Government acknowledges and respects the right of every Indian to criticize and disagree as an essential element of democracy. India is the world’s largest open Internet society and the Government welcomes social media companies to operate in India, do business and also earn profits. However, they will have to be accountable to the Constitution and laws of India. Secondly, it was found that currently there is no robust complaint mechanism wherein the ordinary users of social media and OTT platforms can register their complaint and get it redressed within defined timeline. Lack of transparency and absence of robust grievance redressal mechanism have left the users totally dependent on the whims and fancies of social media platforms.
