પહેલા તબક્કાનું મતદાન 9મી ડિસેમ્બરે પૂર્ણ થયું હતું. 89 બેઠકો પર થયેલા મતદાન બાદ કોંગ્રેસ અને ભાજપ પોતાની જીતના દાવા કર્યા હતાં. પરંતુ હજુ સુધી મતદારોનો મૂડ કોઈ પાર્ટી કે રાજકીય વિશ્લેષકો પારખી શક્યા નથી, ત્યારે શંકરસિંહ વાઘેલાએ પણ લોકોને મતદાન કરવા માટે અપીલ કરી હતી. કોણ જીતશે અને કોણ હારશે તે અંગે બાપુએ કોઈ પણ પ્રતિક્રિયા આપી ન હતી.

દેશની પ્રગતિમાં આપનો મત કેટલો કિંમતી છે. ઘણા બધા એવું કહેતા હોય છે કે હું મારો એક મત આપું કે ન આપું તેમાં શું ફરક પડશે. તેવું બોલતા પહેલા આપણે એક વાર વિચારવું જોઇએ કે આપણા એક મતની કિંમત બહુ મોટી છે. આ રૂઢીચુસ્ત માનસિકતા માંથી બહાર આવીએ અને એક મતની કિંમત સમજીએ. આ તાકાતનો સદ્દઉપયોગ કરીએ અને આવો સાથે મળીને સંકલ્પ કરીએ કે, 9મીડિસેમ્બર અને 14મી ડિસેમ્બરે ગમે તેવી પરિસ્થીતી કેમ ન હોય થોડો સમય કાઢીને મતદાન કરીએ અને કરાવીએ. રાજકીય માહોલમાં હવે સેલેબ્રિટી પ્રચાર પૂર જોશમાં શરૂ થઇ ગયો. ભાજપ અને કોંગ્રેસ બંને પક્ષો માંથી સ્ટાર પ્રચારકો આવી રહ્યા છે. સ્ટાર પ્રચારકની વાત કરીએ તો જ્યારે જ્યારે જે તે રાજ્યોની વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણી હોય છે ત્યારે સ્ટારપ્રચારકો પહોંચી જતા હોય છે, પણ આ ચૂંટણી છે તેમાં આવતા આ સ્ટારપ્રચારકો શું ચૂંટણી જીતાડવામાં મદદરૂપ થશે. કેમ કે ગુજરાતની ગુણિયલ જનતા કામોને જોઇને મતદાન કરશે નહીં વાયદાઓના વહેંણને જોઇએને. ગૌરવવંતિ ગુજરાતી પ્રજાને નિવેદન કે આપ કોઇના દોરાવ્યામાં દોરાઇ ન જઇને સમજી વિચારીને મતદાન કરજો અને કરાવજો.
