Keeping in mind the festive season, the Food Safety Department has intensified the work of collecting samples of food items being sold in the market. In the month of October itself, the department has collected 58 samples and sent them for testing, while this month also the work of filling samples is going on continuously. The department has so far sent 227 samples for testing, out of which 84 samples have been found failed. Some such cases go to ADM Mandi for settlement and some cases are settled by the department at its own level. In 26 cases sent to ADM Mandi, a fine of Rs 10 lakh 10 thousand has been imposed, while the department has settled 31 cases at its own level and collected a fine of Rs 2 lakh 90 thousand. A total fine of Rs 13 lakh has been collected so far. The department collects samples throughout the year and sends them for testing and if the samples fail, action is taken as per rules.
