Karnataka floor test: Siddaramaiah endorses 'horse-trading', says 'retail trade fine'
Even as the whole state has been plunged into the state of political crisis, former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Tuesday appeared to be endorsing the horse-trading of MLAs while addressing the Karnataka Assembly. With the deadline for the Karnataka floor test fixed by the Speaker at 6 pm, the former CM said in his closing statement made a cryptic comment on the state MLAs, claiming that "retail trade was fine but wholesale trade was an issue," possibly referring to horse-trading.

Karnataka crisis: Speaker likely to disqualify few MLAs before trust vote
As the House debated the motion with frequent scenes of pandemonium, Congress made its intentions clear right from the beginning that voting be deferred as the apex Court was seized of pleas by two Independent MLAs on the issue of the trust vote.The Supreme Court will hear on Tuesday a fresh plea of two Independent Karnataka MLAs, seeking holding of the floor test "forthwith" in the state Assembly on the trust motion.The MLAs who withdrew support to the ruling coalition have sought a direction to the Kumaraswamy government to conduct the floor test on or before 5 PM on Monday.

Karnataka Assembly adjourned without trust vote, BJP MLAs to stage dharna overnight in House
The Karnataka assembly was adjourned till Friday morning amid acrimony during the debate on the motion of confidence moved by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to decide the fate of his 14-month-old government. The House was adjourned by Deputy Speaker Krishna Reddy as the Congress members persistently shouted slogans against the BJP as the proceedings wore on with Kumaraswamy yet to make his speech on the motion. Before the House was adjourned, BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa declared that his party members would stay put in the House itself overnight and even till the time the trust vote was decided.

Karnataka crisis: Governor asks Speaker to complete trust vote process Thursday itself
Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala Thursday asked Assembly speaker K Ramesh Kumar to complete the process of vote of confidence moved by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy by the end of the day. Vala's message to Kumar came after a BJP delegation called on him and requested to direct the speaker to conduct the vote of confidence Thursday itself, amid fears by the party that the ruling coalition was trying to prolong the debate to buy time to shore up numbers. In his message, Vala said, "The motion of confidence moved by the chief minister of Karnataka is in consideration before the House today. The chief minister is expected to maintain the confidence of the House at all times during his tenure.

SC says rebel MLAs can't be compelled to participate in trust vote
The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that 15 Congress MLAs, who have tendered their resignations, cannot be compelled to participate in the proceedings of the House. "In view of Trust Vote kept for tomorrow, SC has said two important things- 15 MLAs will not be compelled to attend the House tomorrow. All 15 MLAs are given the liberty that may or may not go to the House tomorrow", says Mukul Rohatgi, representing Karnataka rebel MLAs in SC.
