From 1 December 2019, it will be mandatory to put Fastag on four-wheelers passing through the National Highway.
What is Fastag and how does it work?
Fastag is an electronic toll collection technology available at the toll plaza of the National Highway. This technique works on the principal of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). This tag is placed on the windscreen of the vehicle so that the sensor on the toll plaza can read it. The toll charge is automatically cut when a vehicle passes through the fastag lane at the toll plaza. Vehicles do not have to be stopped for this. Once released, Fastag is active for 5 years. It just has to be recharged on time.
How to get fastag?
Buying Fastag for your vehicle is very easy. You can get Fastag from the dealer only when purchasing a new car. At the same time, for old vehicles, it can be purchased from the point of sale of the National Highway. Apart from this, you can also buy Fastag from private sector banks. Their tieup is from the National Highway Authority of India. These include Syndicate Bank, Axis Bank, IDFC Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI Bank, and ICICI Bank. If you want, you can also buy Fastag from Paytm.

देशभर के नेशनल हाईवे पर मौजूद टोल प्लाजा पर सहूलियत के लिए सरकार ने नया प्लान बनाया है। अब 1 दिसंबर 2019 से नेशनल हाईवे से गुजरने वाली सभी चार पहिया वाहनों पर फास्टैग लगाना अनिवार्य हो जाएगा। जानकारों के अनुसार अगर आप इस अवधि के बाद भी फास्टैग का इस्तेमाल नहीं करते हैं, तो दोगुना टोल फीस भरनी पड़ सकती है। ऐसे में यदि आपने अभी तक अपने वाहन पर फास्टैग नहीं लगाया है तो जल्द से जल्द लगवा लें। फास्टैग कैसे और कहां मिलेगा यह जानने से पहले समझते हैं फास्टैग क्या है और कैसे काम करता है?
