  • Official iPhone 5 Announcement: New iTunes, iPod Touch & Nano


    Apple had made a big announcement about the new iPhone 5, including a simplified iTunes and new iPods! We'll fill you in on all the details. I'm Misty Kingma, you're tuning into ClevverMusic. On September 12th, Apple officially announced a new iPhone 5 has been added to the iPhone family. The phone will be available for pre-order September 14th, and is made entirely out of glass and aluminum. It's also the thinnest phone they've ever made, which comes with tons of new features. But news included in the big announcement that we're most excited about here at ClevverMusic are the iTunes and iPod reveals!

    First, the big overhaul for iTunes features a simpler design, featuring big icons and album art to make it more of a media-browsing interface. There's also a new mini player that will let users move the app out of their face but still have it floating on a part of their desktop, and the new iTunes also includes iCloud integration. During the announcement Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "Music is deeply embedded into our DNA" he continued, "This is the reason we created iPod and iTunes, and these products have gone on to revolutionize the music industry." If you didn't know, iTunes now has 26 million songs, and over 20 billion songs have been purchased over the last 9 years. The new iTunes changes will start to be seen September 19th initially with iOS 6.

    The 5C will cost $99 with a two-year contract, while the 32GB version will sell for $199 with a two-year contract. The 5S will cost $199, $299 or $399 for a 16GB, 32GB or 64GB model, respectively.

    Get ready to touch the iPhone in an intimate way.
    Apple unveiled new versions of its ubiquitous smartphone, one of which includes a fingerprint sensor for authenticating ownership.
    The tech giant confirmed the new hardware during a media event Tuesday at its California headquarters, where it showed off a stripped-down model, the iPhone 5C, and a higher-end iPhone 5S.

    The phones will be released Sept. 20, although the 5C can be pre-ordered starting Friday.
    The 5S has a 4-inch display and will come with several bells 'n whistles, including the fingerprint sensor, a flashier camera and a longer battery life than the iPhone 5, Apple execs said.
    The special sensor feature known as Touch ID had been rumored prior to Tuesday's announcement.

    "You can simply touch your home button to unlock your phone," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president for marketing.
    In case you share your device, the phone has the ability to recognize more than one fingerprint.
    Apple said it verifies a user based on one's "sub-epidermal skin layers."
