The Indian army said on Tuesday it has fired at and damaged Pakistani posts along their de-facto border as part of counter-insurgency operations to stop militants from crossing into India.

The army also released what it said was a video of the military action that showed heavy artillery blasting temporary bunkers and shelters on a tree-covered mountain.     The Indian Army on September 28 neutralised one terrorist and caught another during an operation in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. On this, GOC of 19 Infantry Division Maj Gen Virendra Vats said, “This infiltration attempt was made in the area of Salamabad Nallah. It's the same area through which we've had a history of infiltration in 2016, that's when a suicide attack at Uri Garrison took place.”

  • Pak Army violates ceasefire, targets areas along LoC

    Pakistani troops today opened fire and shelled areas along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, drawing heavy retaliation from the Indian Army.

    The firing is still on, a defence spokesman said.

    "Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 0815 hours in Poonch sector along the Line of Control (LoC)", the spokesman said.

    The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively.

    SRINAGAR: Army has foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) on a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing five to seven intruders, according to a defence spokesman here.
