eSveral people today bid a tearful adieu to a policeman who was martyred in an encounter with terrorists at his home town in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Constable Zahir Abbas was martyred in the gunfight in Mir Mohalla village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district yesterday. He is survived by his wife, two minor sons and a daughter, who is the youngest among the siblings.

District Development Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Pandey laid wreaths on his body and participated in the funeral prayers in Abbas's village Kallar Mohra in Mendhar.

Thousands of people paid tributes to the slain policeman soon after his body reached his home around noon. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in the village, officials said.Watch Slain policeman given a tearful adieu in Poonch With HD Quality

    बीते कुछ सालों में जम्मू-कश्मीर में आतंकी घटनाओं में कमी आई हैं लेकिन कुछ आतंकी घटनाएं अभी भी जारी है। आतंकी घटना को अंजाम देते हुए बीती रात पुंछ के सुरनकोट इलाके में स्थित कृष्ण मंदिर से सटे बस स्टेंड में एक रहस्यमयी धमाका हुआ जिसमें बगल में स्थित मंदिर की दीवारें तक प्रभावित हो गईं। धमाके की खबर पता चलते ही मौके पर सुरक्षा बल पहुंची और जांच शुरू की। धमाके के बाद सुरक्षा बलों ने सुरक्षा बढ़ा दी है और वाहनों की जांच करना शुरू की।
