Pak Army violates ceasefire, targets areas along LoC

Pakistani troops today opened fire and shelled areas along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, drawing heavy retaliation from the Indian Army.

The firing is still on, a defence spokesman said.

"Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 0815 hours in Poonch sector along the Line of Control (LoC)", the spokesman said.

The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively.

  • J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch, targets civilians

    Pakistani troops on Thursday violated ceasefire by firing small arms and shelling mortar bombs on forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said. The firing from across the border in Mankote sector was retaliated befittingly by the Indian Army, he said, adding there was no immediate report of any casualty on the Indian side. "At about 7.15 am, Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars," the spokesperson said.

  • Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch

    POONCH: Pakistani troops today violated border ceasefire for the second time in less than a week by resorting to small arms firing and mortar shelling on forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. "The Pakistan army troops resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing on Indian army posts along LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir since midnight," the Defence spokesperson today said.

    The spokesperson said the Pakistan army also shelled posts with heavy mortars and opened fire with small arms and automatic weapons in the Poonch sector. "Our troops are responding appropriately and no casualties or damage to our troops was reported till the report last came in. The firing was still going on" the spokesperson added. The exchange of fire is going intermittently in Shahpur Kandi area along LoC in Poonch, police said.     पाकिस्तान अपनी हरकतों से बाज़ नहीं आ रहा है...पाक ने एक बार फिर सीजफायर का उल्लंघन किया है. जम्मू के पुंछ सेक्टर में सोमवार रात से पाकिस्तान की तरफ से फायरिंग की जा रही है...इस दौरान भारतीय सेना की 6 पोस्टों को निशाना बनाया गया...बताया जा रहा है कि रुक-रुककर मोर्टार भी दागे जा रहे हैं. सेना के मुताबिक, फायरिंग सुबह तक जारी है...लेकिन अभी तक इस गोलीबारी में किसी के घायल होने की खबर नहीं है...वैसे पाकिस्तान ने एक सप्ताह से भी कम समय में दूसरी बार संघर्षविराम का उल्लंघन किया है. इससे पहले पाकिस्तान ने जम्मू के अखनूर सेक्टर में नियंत्रण रेखा के पास 2 सितंबर को अग्रिम सैन्य चौकियों पर गोलीबारी करके संघर्षविराम का उल्लंघन किया था. और 14 अगस्त को भी जम्मू-कश्मीर के पुंछ सेक्टर के दो अलग-अलग इलाकों में नियंत्रण रेखा पर भारतीय चौकियों को निशाना बनाया था..जिसमें 50 वर्षीय एक महिला घायल हो गई थी.-

    The Pakistan army on Saturday targeted forward posts and villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district with firing from small arms and mortar shelling, ending nearly a week-long lull along the Line of Control (LoC) , a defence spokesman said. The small arms firing and mortar shelling from across the border started in Krishna Ghati sector around 7.45 am, the spokesman said. He said the Indian Army is retaliating and the cross-border shelling between the two sides was going on when last reports were received.

    Two soldiers and a civilian were killed as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Tanghar sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday, police said. Three civilians were also injured in the firing by Pakistani troops, they said. Two houses were damaged in the incident.
