Chief Minister pays homage to martyred soldiers

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid wreaths on the bodies of two soldiers, Lance Naik, Ranjit Singh and Rifleman, Satish Bhagat, who were martyred in a cross border shelling incident yesterday.

The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the two soldiers.

Chief Secretary, B. B. Vyas; Goc, Chinar Corp, Lt. Gen. J. S. Sandhu, Principal Secretary, Home, R. K. Goyl; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Khan; IGP Kashmir, Muneer Khan; IGP CID, A. G.   • Shopian attack: Mehbooba Mufti pays tribute to martyred soldiers

    Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday paid floral tributes to two soldiers, including a Major rank officer, who were martyred as militants opened fire on a search party in Shopian district of Kashmir.

    Major Kamlesh Pandey and Sepoy Tanzin Chhultim were killed, and a jawan was injured in the firing by militants at Zainapora in Shopian district during a cordon and search operation launched by security forces.

    Mehbooba and her deputy Nirmal Singh, joined Chinar Corps Commander Lt. Gen. J S Sandhu and officials from civil and police administration, to pay rich tributes to Major Pandey and Sepoy Tanzin Chhultim, in a solemn ceremony at Badamibagh cantonment here, an Army official said.

    The Army on Friday paid tributes to two soldiers who lost their lives during an encounter with militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

    General officer Commanding of Chinar Corps Lt Gen J S Sandhu led officers in paying homage to the soldiers on behalf of a proud nation, a defence spokesperson said.

    Officials and representatives from the state government and other security agencies also paid their last respects to the martyrs, he said.
