अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी में कल हुए 77वें छात्रसंघ चुनाव में अध्यक्ष पद पर अलीगढ़ के सलमान इम्तियाज ने जीत हासिल की है। सचिव पद पर आजमगढ़ के हुजैफा आमिर व इसी जिले के हमजा सूफियान ने उपाध्यक्ष पद पर जीत हासिल की। हुजैफा आमिर के पिता आमिर रशादी राष्ट्रीय ओलमा काउंसिल के अध्यक्ष हैं।
एएमयू स्टुडेंट्स यूनियन के अध्यक्ष व उपाध्यक्ष पर पांच-पांच व सचिव के लिए चार प्रत्याशी मैदान में थे। इनके साथ कैबिनेट के 10 पदों के लिए 28 व कोर्ट मेंबर के 11 पदों के लिए 27 प्रत्याशी मुकाबले में थे। एएमयू में सुबह नौ से पांच बजे तक फैकल्टी वाइज वोट पड़े। करीब 19 हजार मतदाताओं में से 65 फीसद वोट पड़े। कई प्रत्याशियों ने सुबह 10 बजे से पहले ही वोट डाल लिया था। अध्यक्ष पद पर अलीगढ़ के अमीरनिशा निवासी सलमान इम्तियाज (पीएचडी, सोशल वर्क) ने करीब 5527 वोट हासिल कर निकटतम प्रतिद्वंद्वी अमरोहा के कस्बा पलोला निवासी मोहम्मद गजनवी (पीएचडी) को 2457 वोटों से हराया। गजनवी को करीब 3070 वोट मिले। इसी पद पर कश्मीर के अनंतनाग जिले के बिजबिहाड़ा निवासी मुबश्शिर हुसैन शाह (पीएचडी, पब्लिक एडमिनिस्टेशन), बिहार अररिया निवासी मोहम्मद अलाउद्दीन मैदान (पीएचडी, अरेबिक) व असद मुर्तजा (बीए, लिंग्विस्टिक) पिछड़ गए। उपाध्यक्ष पद पर आजमगढ़ के सराय मीर निवासी हमजा सूफियान (एमए) ने शुरू से ही बढ़त बना ली थी।

    AMU में एक पोस्टर के ताजा विवाद को लेकर अलीगढ के सांसद ने कुलपति के नाम एक पत्र लिखा है। सांसद ने अपने लिखे पत्र में AMU प्रशासन पर आरोप लगाए हैं की AMU में देश विरोधी और सरकार विरोधी कृत्यों का समय समय पर महिमा मंडान किया जाता है। एक विवादास्पद नाटक भी इंतजामिया की मदद से किया जा रहा था ,जिसके लिए जो होर्डिंग लगाए गए थे उसमे भारत के नक्से से कश्मीर को ही गायब दिखाया गया था। ये घटना बहुत गंभीर है। यहाँ के छात्र निरंकुश हैं।
    सांसद ने कहा कि यहाँ ऐसी हरकते की जाती हैं जिस से देश विदेश में AMU की छवि धूमिल होती है। इसलिए उन्होंने वीसी को पत्र लिखा है की आपके द्वारा कोई कार्यवाही नहीं की जाती। लगता है की ऐसे मामलों में AMU का समर्थन उनको मिलता है। वीसी द्वारा सांसद के पत्र का जवाब ना देने पर उन्होंने कहा की में उनको कोर्ट में खड़ा करूँगा। यहाँ के छात्र अगर अपनी हरकतों से बाज नहीं आये तो उनके खिलाफ कठोर कार्यवाही की जायेगी।
