Rivaldo made his first club career with Santa Cruz in 1991. The following year, the soccer star moved south to the state of São Paulo to play for Mogi Mirim in the second tier of Brazilian football. After the 1996 Olympics, he decided to move to Spain rather than Italy to join Deportivo La Coruña in La Liga. Here, he stayed only for one season but ensured to take the club to a successful level that also brought about quite a change in his football career. By 1997, Rivaldo was signed by FC Barcelona that was later followed by clubs Milan, Olympiacos, A.E.K., Bunyodkor, Mogi Mirim, São Paulo, Kabuscorp and São Caetano.
