Rahul Gandhi addressed a Public Rally at Bastar, Chattisgarh on March 31, 2014.
"Congress party works for everyone, for tribals, poor, Dalits and the downtrodden. For us, Hindus and Muslims are equal. We consider everyone equal," he said at a public meeting in Kondagaon district headquarters of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency.
Rahul Gandhi said Congress always focused on empowering tribals, the poor and the downtrodden, while the BJP had "no heart" for tribals and the poor.
Describing Chhattisgarh as a rich land of poor people, he said the state is bestowed with natural resources but its benefits do not reach the common man.
Attacking BJP over corruption, he said the party had turned a blind eye towards corruption in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
"They say that they are fighting against corruption. Don't they see corruption in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh? Their Karnataka chief minister was jailed due to corruption, while in Gujarat, three ministers went to jail," Rahul Gandhi said.
He said the UPA government's major programmes were based on development of the poor, of which MNREGA is an example under which lakhs of people benefited.

Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Manipur on March 19, 2014. Rahul Gandhi questioned the BJP's plan to impose the Gujarat model of development over all states and said the best model for each state was the one that characterized the aspirations of its people.
"The opposition talks about the Gujarat model everywhere. What has it got to do with Manipur, or UP, or Meghalaya? The only model that should work in Manipur is the Manipur model, not the Gujarat model," Rahul Gandhi told a massive public rally.
He said the Congress party respected everybody, irrespective of their religion or the place they came from. "We don't want to impose anything on Manipur. We are proud of the language and culture of Manipur as we are proud of all others," Rahul Gandhi told a cheering crowd.
He said he believed that every person of India deserves respect, and added that the opposition party treated natives of Uttar Pradesh poorly in Maharashtra, and the Northeastern people in Delhi. This election is a battle between two thoughts -- one that of Congress which is based on love, affection, brotherhood and inclusive growth; the other ideology is based on anger, hatred and of pitting one against another," Rahul Gandhi told a massive crowd.
He cautioned the people of being misled by the false propaganda of the opposition party. "We faced resistance from them during the land acquisition bill's passage. When a rich person sells his land, he gets to do so at the market price however when a poor farmer sells his land he doesn't get a fair price. This farmer bleeds and sweats for the country and fails to get a proper price for his land. The opposition tried stopping this bill at the standing committee level but yet we managed to pass it," said Rahul Gandhi.
Sharing the ideology and the vision of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi promised the people of UP that the state will have unprecedented development when the Congress comes to power. He added that the ideology of the Congress is of love, peace and brotherhood and the BJP can continue dreaming about removing Congress from India. "They don't realize that the Congress party is not an entity, it is an ideology. Criticizing the state ruling party, TMC, for their inadequate work, Rahul Gandhi stated that the large amount of funds sent to West Bengal by the Central Government have not been effectively utilized. While addressing the party rally, Rahul Gandhi also spoke of the steps taken by the Congress party to empower people and promote inclusive growth.
"We want to take everyone along in the process of development, which is why we send funds from the Centre to improve the development of infrastructure and roads. These funds have not reached people, and the insufficient development in West Bengal is a result of this issue. Congress has announced several welfare schemes and rights-based legislations, but the implementation at the local level has been poor," said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi also threw light on the hypocrisy of the TMC government. Rahul Gandhi said that BJP's big balloon of 'India Shining' had exploded in the past, and this new balloon of 'Gujarat Model' that the party has created will also burst, with more intensity than the previous one.
"BJP needs to realize that the Gujarat model will not work in the entire country. Under the BJP-AGP government, Assam grew only at 2 percent, with limited development, but under the Congress, the growth rate has been 13 percent. Every state is different and needs its own model to succeed," he said. "We want to empower you, which is why we have established 6 Autonomous Councils and 18 Development Councils and put power in your hands. He said that the Congress government remains committed to the welfare and progress of the people, and going forward it will work towards providing people the Right to Health and Right to Shelter.
Rahul Gandhi spoke about the empowerment of women and said that the Congress Party will pass the Bill to introduce 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament when it forms the next government. Linking women to banks and providing them access to credit would be another priority he said because India cannot be a superpower if it did not empower women who form 50 percent of the population. He assured the youth of the state that in the coming months millions of jobs would be created with the building of the dedicated industrial corridors with road and rail connectivity.

Speaking at a massive public rally Rahul Gandhi said, "Odisha has money, natural resources, forests and water. It is a rich state, but the people are poor. The state government takes your money and gives it to the industrialists. They don't use it for building schools for you, or providing education, health and jobs."
He added that the Congress led UPA government had made special allocation of funds for the welfare of tribal people, but the BJD government has diverted these funds to other things. "The job of the government is to help you. You should have a railway line. The water which should be used for irrigation is diverted for industrial uses," he said.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that while the industry needs resources, it should not come at the cost of farmers and there is a need for balanced development.
Sharing the vision of the Congress Party that seeks to remove poverty from India, he asked the people to join the Congress in this fight. Expressing happiness over the presence of women in the rallies, he assured the women that the Congress Party will make full efforts to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha.
